Was that the 500 lumen Coleman flashlight he found at Wally World? I bought two from there and they are good lights but I checked a few weeks back and they did not have any. Any flashlight with 500 or more lumen rating will be a good bright light, some are built heavy enough to be dual purpose but nothing makes a better attitude adjuster than a 4D cell Maglite. ------------- Just an old country boy saved by the grace of God. |

Hubert, do ye use the butt of the flashlight or whack 'em in the head with the light bulb end? if it's a filament bulb, they usually only last one whack... the next whack they don't see it comin... | it was the Colman 1500 or 1200 lumen flashlight, and I also don't see them anywhere for sale now. i'll look when I go to wally world tonight to see what they have. I also bought a Stanley hand held spot light that is 2500 lumens LED, it's rechargeable, and is a great light! |

JC, like you say the butt end saves bulbs and that is what I prefer to use. If you are bending that 5 cell you might be hitting 'em a bit too hard. ------------- Just an old country boy saved by the grace of God. |

I got one of those mag lites, don't know if it's 4 or 5 cell, but it sure is a bright light. Went out back on a couple occasions when the neighbor girl came asking me to help find her doggie. I could see a long ways with that thing. ------------- D14, D17, 5020, 612H, CASE 446 |

I have 2 of those LONG Mag lites, one in the truck and one in the house. If you use the small end as a thumper, you could disable the back up light bulb in the bottom end  Wife came home a month or so back and handed me a $7 flashlight she picked up at Wally world. It has a usb port and a phone charger port in the back end with a lithium Ion battery. When the power was off for 7 hours a while back, my phone battery was getting low, so I charged it up with the flashlight. It worked a bit slower than the regular charger, but put a full charge in my phone and the light still worked. It also telescopes in length, to go from flood light to a small spot light. It has 3 settings for the light, bright, not so bright, and strobe . | that's not the same one John, but it should be good when it has 2500 lumens, and is cheaper than the Colemans by about $20. sum dollars. I did look last night at wally world and only found flashlights in the 750 lumen size, but Bushnell had a spot light in the 2500 lumen size, it was adjustable from beam to flood, and it was in the 2500 lumen size for about $34.00. my Coleman is out in the shed, I think it was the CT50 model. |

Bought two of the CT50's based on your recommendation, they were JUNK! Just poking at you, they are good flashlights and one gets used just about every day. Solidly built and can be used as a defensive tool also, that serrated front shield would leave a mark. ------------- Just an old country boy saved by the grace of God. |

| I found a small light last night at wally world, was on sale for $7. made by "energizer" you know...the battery company. it has an adjustable light head (LED) and 2 light settings. can use it straight on or at a 90 degree angle. takes 2 AA batteries and is 300 lumens. really good wide angle close coverage area for 300 lumens. |

I found a cheap plastic lamp for three bucks... LED bulb, and used 6v lantern battery... and it's downright handy... partly, 'cause I can turn it on and SET it on something, and it doesn't roll away. Not much for a self defense weapon, but then again, I haven't needed anything that I wasn't born with...

I needed a powerful flashlight with moisture protection and the flashlight was a great option for me. Maybe it will work for you. It is relatively inexpensive, so you can order it and see what it is capable of. I think he'll surprise you. And yes, don't forget the fact that it costs $ 15, not a few hundred. |

I did not have a chance to use it until after Christmas during my final hunt of rifle season. I hunt in Coke County, and it was very, very cold that particular week. It was so cold, in fact, that the light wouldn't work. Seriously, the light will not work when it is cold and this is known to the engineers at Coleman (see below). I turned on the light right at sunset...tracking a downed deer and the light lasted for about 15 minutes. Just enough time to find the deer and load it on to the ranger. When I returned to camp, I tried to turn the light back on, and it was dead. Hmm. I emailed Coleman USA customer service, and to their credit they did email me back, but they will not stand behind their product. In short, they cannot offer a refund because it is a "battery issue", offered a replacement and admitted that it would likely not "improve performance" as the replacement light still will not work in cold weather. Think about everyone that has purchased one of these lights that may be depending on it for emergencies. At the time that it died, it was the only light that I had on me. There should be some sort of warning on the packaging about the light not working in cold weather, and coleman USA should stand behind their products. Seriously...people hunt and camp when it is very, very cold. I was floored when they admitted yes the light, even if replaced will not work in the cold, and no we are not going to offer a refund. $50 is the price point where I expect a decent light. | wow...mine always worked when it was cold outside. in fact i usually kept it outside in my truck overnight. and the batteries always lasted a long time too, i use Duracell in about all my battery stuff. the switch on mine just went out this last fall. i have not found any hand held flashlights that come close to the light that Coleman put out. if i could find another, i'd buy it! |
