| There’s a local 180 Diesel for sale for $2000. Seller says it starts up then shuts right back off, and there for needs injector pump work. I have always heard that it is expensive to rebuild an injector pump? Just how much should I expect to pay for a rebuild? It’s been sitting for two years but he claims it has no leaks. I believe tires hold air but are essentially shot. Any thoughts on price? Anything in particular to look for on a 180? I’m not familiar with anything from the 100 series. |

The internal shaft couplings on these were notorious for decay then failing. Pump rebuilds are all across the board from $450 to $900 dependent on who you speak to, my 180 pump was rebuilt at Capital Diesel Jefferson City MO for $650 a few years ago now, It had completely failed then. There is a fitting in the top cover of the pump, has a rubber line to a small steel line, take the ENTIRE fitting out of the cover, clean the debris out of it then reinstall and the engine should stay running long enough to get it loaded/unloaded at your home. Pump R&R is straight forward, lined out on service manual, only sensitive point beyond the timing alignment is the shaft umbrella seals and they are SUPER easy to roll over where will get fuel in the oil pretty quick. |

If you can start and drive it until it cuts off put a straight screwdriver in your pocket when it shuts off Hop off on the side of the injection pump is 2 screws and a little square window loosen the two screws when fuel runs out get back on the tractor if it starts right up and drives the injection pump is going to need to be rebuilt the flex ring inside is going to pieces that's what's causing it to shut off you can leave that plate loose it will run but it Witt leak you can drive it on the trailer if that's all that's wrong with it go for it after you offer 1500  ------------- You can wash the dirt off the body but you can’t wash the farmer out of the heart and soul |

| Any good injection shop should have the tool to put around the seals as you slide them into mounting housing. They used to have them in stock in our area. Cheap for the time you save. |
