My simplicity sunstars hyd is very erratic when cold. steering,trans and lift. Whines a little bit. Don’t rember being that way in the past. Looks like it’s about an inch hi in the plastic line. .what could be wrong with it? Seems to be better when warmed up, but still not as good as it was. Does it have a belt that drives the hyd pump? No, there are no belts in the driveline. How does your powersteering feel? The old sunstrands all have a whine to them, some more than others. sorry, havnt had a chance to change the oil yet. when its cold noting works right,or at all steering, lift or trans until it warms up. it does whine a little. Is there an online manual for this? John

If the hydrostatic level is high, that's because there's water in the bottom pushing it up. Do you like hydrostatic drive? if so, empty that stuff out immediately, and refill it with fresh new... it doesn't take much water through a hydrostatic pump to ruin it. ------------- Ten Amendments, Ten Commandments, and one Golden Rule solve most every problem. Citrus hand-cleaner with Pumice does the rest. |

| T would assume you have moisture in the oil same thing happens on a snowplow. change oil and filter and it should be good to go, Just my $.02 |

When it's really cold, it's always better to leave water in the hydrostat system, particularly inside the pump, so when it freezes, it can expand in the passageways and close-fitment parts, and break castings and internal parts...  Would be best if you could drag it into a heated shop, and drain it ASAP... I've replaced too many broken up hydrostats ------------- Ten Amendments, Ten Commandments, and one Golden Rule solve most every problem. Citrus hand-cleaner with Pumice does the rest. |

OK changed the oil with type F trans fluid and filter. No water. The oil was still reddish, not dirty and no burnt smell to it. The filter was very, very loose. Could it have sucking air?
