Does anyone know a definitive minimum width in inches for 7000, 7010, 7020, 7030, 7040, 7045? we are looking at needing a sprayer tractor that will go down corn rows and a little room to spare would be nice. It seems like a 7000 with power shift wheels should be a little narrower than say the 7030 and up. Tires would be 18.4.

TractorData says 64 to 85 inches with standard axle and 18.4 tires for the 7000 and 7010. They don't mention this in the other models.

I have a 7060 set up to pull a planter on 30 inch rows. My suggestion is that you use 16.9 rear tires for spraying. Or 15.5'S if can find a pair.

I may be wrong, But I thought the 7050 was the only 1 that would not row crop 30 inch rows

That may be another way to approach it. Has anyone run through 30" rows with any of the 7000 series with 18.4 tires? I'm thinking they fit but one inch on either side might get old and do more damage potentially.

I'd have to check my notes at home, but I remember 62" with 18.4 x 38's and on the 7045/7050/7060/7080/8050/8070 you MUST have power shift wheels to get the tires in against the cab to get to 62 inches.
These tractors have been doing 30 inch rows for decades at 62 inches.

I ran my 7020 down 30in rows. If i wanted extra room; the guys i see who went to 42in rubber, seem to have bunches of room. my front axle was more of a problem then the rear. the rear i could easily get into the center of the row. the fronts ran on the outside of the center. they worked OK but thought i'd clue u in on my journey!

Yes, I figured someone must be side dressing or spraying on 30" with an Allis, but I can't find anyone who says they do it with a 7000 series. My thoughts are the newer 18.4 radials are a little more beefy. Just want to make sure before I purchase a tractor that it will fit down the rows.

Thanks, if 7020 fits anything less should work too...

Doc is right, been going down 30 inch rows on our farm since 1977 with many different models of the 7000 series. Power shift wheels are a must and depends on how close you want the tire to be to the side of the cab. The 8000 series offered "true" 60 inch wheel spacing. Good Luck,Mike

Wider final drives aren't the problem, cab width is limiting factor. Row cropped with my 7080 for years. Also had a 1982 8070 2wd with 18.4x42 tires mounted on double bead rims and they were attached to the cast offset hub. If I recall this yielded right at a 61 inch wheel spacing. HTH, Mike

The Dr once again is right. Dad row cropped for several years with a 7000 and 7060. 62" or so is about as tight as they get with 18.4. Even in his contour farming, I don't recall it ever being a problem. AaronSEIA

You should be able to set the tires to 90 inches, center to center, which would work if you straddle three rows.

Don,t have measurements but ran a 7030 for years on 30 inch rows with 18-4 by 38 tires.

I pull 16r30 planter with the 8050 and spray with the 7045. Both have 18.4x38 on spinouts. Since 1994, the 7045 has had the wheels set out to 90" to pull the sprayer through 18" bean rows. I set the wheel rows in and out 2" which gives me a 22" row to drive down. Makes it real easy to see where to turn in and drive.
Now as for the 7080, I was always told that with its wider final drive, the 7080 could not row crop in 30" rows.

Guess I should clarify my previous post. "Row cropped for years" in 30" rows with my 7080. The caveat is you must have 18.4X38 tires on power shift rims and have them adjusted all the way to the outside which provides maximum offset. Then slide the assembly on the axle to position it as close to the cab sidewalls as possible. The cab sidewalls on the 7000 series are the limiting factor no matter what model. HTH,Mike

I have 20.8's on mine now. They are NOT on spin outs. Wish they were and also wished they were 18.4' x 42's. Thanks for the info.

I had a tire customer who purchased a pair of 15.5X38's and tubes new. Every spring after heavy field work was done he would have me come out and take the 18.4's off and mount the 15.5's on the tractor. He then used it for the light farm work, cultivating 30" rows, hay making, etc. When the crops were out, I remounted the 18.4's for fall/spring work. On a 7020. These were Goodyear bias 6 ply tires because at the time the Goodyear 15.5X38's were taller than any other brand.

my 7010 is on 30 in rows, has 18.4x38 tires. the space between the cab and tire is really close

I have a 7010 that has done a lot of row cultivating and spraying in 30 inch rows with 18.4x38's. Had a 7040 that had 18.4x38 that did same jobs.

If you are just going to spray with it, why not spread the wheels out and straddle 3 rows! For years I pulled a NH3 applicator with a 7080, just had to remove 1 shank and rearrange the other 12. Had a shank for each row, start at on one side of the field and when you got to the other side there would be only one middle that had not been touched.
