WC questions? When did they put on foot brakes? when did they last have distilate tractors? Tonight I looked at styled number wc142795. The exhaust does not go through the hood, it had hand brakes a pto and what I think is a sherman stepup on it. It has no exhaust hole but has a hole right in front of the gas tank on right side which I think is for a starter tank.

WC's never had factory foot brakes, though there were offered aftermarket.  Distilate tractors were made through the WD/WD45 series.  Is the hole in the hood surrounded by 3 bolt holes?  if so, that may be for the tank as you say.  If it's got a Sherman, that would be a huge plus!

yes it has the 3 holes around the big hole. It has a gearbox with a shifter between the transmisson and rearend

The later WC's came through with a shift lever near the rear end that when shifted allowed the tractor to stop and the mechanical power lift - which was located in front of the shift - to be run so the implement could be lifted without the tractor moving.
A sherman lift would be a hi low arrangement and are very rare.  Hope you have one.
I agree with all the above posts.  No original foot brakes, and there was a distallate unit for the life of the tractor 33-45.
The WC is a very basic, extremely dependable tractor.  While it does not have all the modern things - hyd, PS, and the like - in its time it was in some instances light years ahead of other units.
Take good care of it.
Good Luck!
