We are kinda sorta looking for some affordable transportation that doesn't have 300 thousand miles on it. Came across this 2007 jeep Cherokee diesel for sale for in the neighborhood of 10 grand. Ad says that it's a 3 litre Mercedes diesel drivetrain. I didn't know jeep ever produced such an animal. Anyone have any experience with one. Has 150,000 miles on it, and ad says that is hardly any for that drivetrain. I know Mercedes are very reliable, and it shouldn't need any work, but the way my luck goes, it probably would need something, and that would take the "affordable" right out of the picture, wouldn't it.? What y'all think.....? Thanks, Darrel

Jeep also had a Liberty model, with a diesel.  Don't think they sold too many of either.  Buying something that's rare, sometimes limits parts, later on...Wink

Have a friend with a 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee with the 3L V6 Mercedes diesel. I think it has been very reliable but doesn't get the as good a fuel mileage  as my 2014 Grand Cherokee with the V6 Eco diesel. They use the engines that their parents own.

re:

hahaha
sorry but that's funny...
Now I suppose IF there were lots of Zerks that'd been filled and PROPER oil changes..if might be kinda true...
Have to ask, you use road salt in Winter ? The tinplate body will be eaten through,or most of it.
I'm not a fan of diesels for daily driver use. The 'contractor' has a Dodge PU with the ecoD in it. Gets LOUSY mileage and $$ at every oil change.
I'd have to see it in person crawl under it ,look ,bang real good before I'd toss 10K( 13 K Canucks). next dor there's an 85 ElCamino and an 81 Silverado I can snag BOTH for 10K. Both from SC, so no rust,350s,pro paint.
Just saying look real hard before you open the wallet !
