I am wondering how the harvest is going around the country. It is already wet here and depending which forecast you listen to we are supposed to be getting 2-3 inches more of rain here in central Ohio today and tomorrow. Talked to our renter a couple  of days ago and he said he is about 50% done with corn and 80% with soy beans. Still see a lot of crops out in the field yet.
Lots of ears falling off the corn and weak stalks. He said it was due to the growing season weather and not specific to any variety or brand of corn seed. He plants several different brands of corn. Generally test weight is off and some damage to ears still on the stalks.

Corn is pretty well complete here, at least for a six to seven county surrounding area. Beans are remarkably still standing(some laying) in a great deal of fields, do not understand the wait and now is raining again.

Usually we are always too dry, but this fall has been the opposite. This time last year lots of cotton was stripped, but this year it's been too wet for most farmers to get in the field.

Most if not all the beans are harvested .Some corn still out there. A BTO that my brother drives a semi for still has 3000 acres of corn to get out. Lots of diesel being burned doing fall tillage.

Finally finished corn a week ago, cut 30 acres of beans. Still got more to go and the rain seems to come every 4-5 days.

I rode in my friends JD combine on Saturday.  He said they had 110 acres of beans left, and 1000 acres of corn.  He just jumped up to a 12 row corn head, but has lots of terraces.  He found a third party that splits that 12 row head and makes it smile and frown, all automatic, as needed!  Flex Split is the company that did that.  Or, on youtube, search for smiling cornhead and it should show up!

I'm surprised to see corn still standing around here because we had all kinds of good weather for harvest. No bin space? Don't want to pay storage? Don't want to sell cheap? Makes no sense to me.Cost them more to leave it.Getting muddy out, stalks falling down, quality going south.Don't have any sympathy.
