For those of you praying for our son and family.....on Monday Jim had a seizure at work, sent to local hosp, CAT scan indicated mass on brain, transferred to larger hosp in Pittsburgh, MRI and diagnosed with Gliomas tumor. Not happy news. Docs told us they were going to do a biopsy next day, small incision, small hole remove tissue for testing. Wednesday went for biopsy, roughly eight hours later we were informed they had attempted to remove the tumor, and got about half of it. Another MRI ordered, but not done right away as Jim was not cooperative, he wanted to go home. ( combination of being stubborn Irish like his dad and still groggy from the anesthesia) Finally, MRI completed and read, drain tube pulled out of his head and stapled shut and sent home! Doc's feel they have removed 99-100% of the tumor! He will get follow up radiation treatments, as an insurance policy, but otherwise he's good to go! He will have a titanium plate in his head forever, and probably periodic follow up inspections for the rest of his life as this type of tumor has a high rate or return......but it could have been a lot worse.

Can you believe that! diagnosed on Tuesday with a difficult to remove tumor, and walking home on Friday with a clean bill of health!!!! Brain surgery on Wed, home on Friday!

Deb and I are grateful for all the prayers, we believe it made the difference

Awesome news Lou.  I'm glad things are going in a positive direction for him, you and all of the family!  I sure hope he beats this thing, and being Irish myself I know he'll beat it.

Glad to hear the outcome was good .
Was a local radio host here few years back on talk radio (believe his is in Madison WI now) who had a brain tumor - complete recovery and back on radio real quick
His Uncle over in Britain was diagnosed  with similar tumor shortly after - with their medical system doctors there released him from hospital and said go make arrangements for your demise !
Anyway the 2 talked - Uncle came over here - had surgery and is alive and well today .
Shows you haw socialized medicine works .
Way back in 1952 my dad had a tumor - went into the VA out at Fort Snelling MN and was suppose to have operation - he checked himself out said his oldest son had a birthday on Sept 15 and he was going home to share that before any operation . Mother had to take him back the day after my brothers birthday- operated on the following day and a day later a blood clot formed which he died from .
So it can be serious - but also rewarding when everything goes well - glad it did for your son .
