Lets see who owns an 8000 series tractor and the jobs it is used for.
We have an 8070 fwd that I purchased a few weeks ago and it will join my collection of Allis tractors.

Jan 1984 purchased a new 8010 fwd but found it was underpowered and in Aug 1984 traded up to a new 8030 fwd which we traded in 2000 for Case/Int 7220 having more power.

How short do the FWA's turn when set to 30" rows? The Deere's of that era turned horrible because the wheels hit the frame. How's your's Just curious. That looks like a nice tractor. I'd like to drive an 8000 someday

Yes Cathy knows all about my tractors since  she is in heaven. Her journey ended June 26/18 terminal bone, brain cancer. My second son told her a few days before her journey ended that he would make sure dad did not buy more than 5 tractors per year . Cathy told Peter that day she wanted an orange tractor at her celebration of life so Peter had our D17 Series IV diesel parked in front of our church. Over 400 people attended her celebration.

I've driven a lot of Deeres. . .never had a tire hit a frame turning.  What model(s) are you talking about, and what was the set up?

Here is our 8070.  Its an 84.  First pic is of it on the DA 1400 field cultivator and the second pic is when it got delivered back in 2014. This fall (pretty soon actually) it will be pulling a DMI 527b disk ripper.

I have an 8070 power shift, FWA. It's done lots of various jobs. Pulled the concord air seeder one year. Had a 3 pt sprayer on it for a couple seasons. It's baled hay, pulled a grain cart, pulled the DA 385 12 row planter this spring. Darrel

Got an 8030 on the farm, I believe it's an 82 model. We all love the big cab and the ice cold air on a hot day. It's mostly used for tillage but also pulls the planter or drill on occasion.

I've got a 8030 20 speed, just under 3000 hr. Use it mostly to pull a Hesston 1365 hydroswing disk swather.  Also use it to plow with a IHC 4 bottom spinner plow.  Bought it a few years from a former neighbor.  Been a bit of a money pit. Radiator, injector pump, water pump, $800 in AC work but now needs more work.  Still, I like the tractor, just hope the bugs about out of it...

In 1987, dad bought two new 1985 8070's with FWA. Both have posi up front and 4" rear axles.  About 10 years ago, he picked up a 1982 2wd 8050. All three have PS trans.

Sure would like to someday own an 8030 and 8010. Because dreaming is free, I want the last 8070 and an 8095.

The 8070 on St Louis Craigslist is owned by a friend of mine. It's a pd and the trans has been gone through recently, professionally. I tried to buy it last spring but wound up buying an 8010 instead. I can assure you he took very good care of it while he had it.

The 8070 on St. Louis craigslist is a 2 wheel drive. It looks clean and in good shape. There is 4w305 hiding in the background.

I have an 8030 and 8050 both fwa the 30 is on the corn planter and batwing, the 50 is on the drill, fertilize spreader and grain cart. I was wondering why every 8000 I see has 20.8 x 38 I would have liked mine to be 18.4 x 38.

Probably not in this club but I had an 8030 but sold it about 5 years ago when I retired. Used it for everything from heavy tillage to baling hay. Was an 82 power shift with 18.4 38 rubber,

We are still using an 8070 2wd and 7045.   The 8070 makes a great rolling  cultivator tractor .    We are on 38s , I too would like the narrow tires

Deere 50 series, they don't actually hit the frame because you set the stops so the wheels don't pivot far enough to hit the frame. The new 00 series and newer had the frames angle in, then back out again to give room for the front tires to pivot sharper.

I have 2 8050's 1 fwa ps it mows and sometimes bales hay. The other is a 2wd pd with westendorf loader. It's big clumsy and hard to get around. But I just love it. Both are nice but I still love the 7000 series.

I remember seeing an Allis Chalmers dealer video showing the Allis Chalmers 8000 series having the tightest FWA turning radius in its class. They set the standard in a lot of ways!

you are absolutely right, Alex. Allis had the competition chasing them when the 8000 series came out, and had things kept on rolling, it would have kept on being the leader. Don't want to start a whole new controversial topic here, but it certainly wasn't the farm equipment that was the demise of allis chalmers. Darrel

You got that right Darrel! The farm equipment division kept the whole thing afloat a lot of years ,, it was a shame the management couldn't keep other divisions profitable or ditched other stuff, but the economy of the 80,s was the big killer

That's amazing that the ACs were still NEW, some 2 years later! C.H. Wendel's book "The Allis-Chalmers Story," page 341, makes mention of a 1980s AC tractor advertisement - "FREE FWD with any new 8000 Series tractor."

In 1987, Deutz was trying to unload the orange inventory they had acquired, and there were some real good deals on the 8000 series tractors. I know Dad bought an 8070 2WD, w/duals, and a 2500 21' disk w/harrow for $31,000.00.

Wow! So the AC 2500 disk was a freebie.

Dad had 7080's until the 8000's came out. His 2nd to last 7080 went down. It came from the factory with 2 or maybe 3 cylinder holes drill in just the slightest bit off. While AC warrantied the block he traded it for an 8070. It came with the free FWA and PS. This was our farms first PS and FWA. The next year he traded the last 7080 of another 8070 PS FWA. Then in early 1987, the 8070's we farm with today came to us.
