Hi, new to the forum and hope I'm posting this correctly, looks like lots of smart people and good information on here so hoping for some help. I have a D17 SN42002 which should be a series III. I read my manuals and lots of forums and I believe I need to add/remove some shims in the clutch. The power director works fine in high and low but in the neutral position is still powers like it is in low, I can feel little more pull in low versus neutral when moving from neutral to low. It doesn't slip in either the high or low position. I believe I need to take a shim out of the low side and put an additional shim in the neutral slot. Does this make sense or am i thinking about this wrong. Thanks a lot for any input anyone may have on this.

Nate, Welcome! Mine has some 'creep in power director 'neutral' too. Maybe not like being in first but it will move on its own till it reaches resistance like a hill. Regards, Chris

Because the clutch runs in oil, it is natural for it to have some drag. It will not move too much when it is warmed up. You can adjust the hand clutch to reduce the neutral movement, but it cannot be entirely eliminated. No need to add or remove shims.

If it does that after oil is warmed up, sounds like wrapped plates. If it has 80w oil in it, that will make it worse.
Can you move lever in natural and make it better? MACK
