Attended the funeral for the last of my aunts today.Mom had 4 siblings 3 that married, dad had 4 one of which died at 17 the rest married. So 25 cousins I think, never counted I guess. Some of us real close some not so much but no big blowups. A few step kids included in that 25 and 3 of us gone already.Well I checked with the inhouse fact check and my be as many as 6 gone. But I made her count her cousins and she had to figure on that a minute too. So now have to got to my sister that took keeping track of things like this over from mom.
So a challenge to all of you how many cousins have you got?
Just a day to look back and be thankful there are not any to rotten of apples in the barrel. The oldest must been born about 1930 but most of us in the 50's and a real late one into 1960+.
She had been a real character in her day, but here mind had gone so it was time let go. But she had some moments of clear thought up to the end. Her daughter report a real peace had come over her after the preachers last visit.
So since all on dad's side had memory loss don't pay much attention to my ramblings as I may be going over the edge soon. Thanks for letting me ramble.
Now thinking from over on construction side here and asking about mercy smelting that was done around here and me playing in quicksilver as a kid I better say good by. My time must be up soon.

Ray, Hope your around for a long long time! Guess there are/were 16 cousins, including me, in my generation. Might see a couple once a year, not real close. Regards, Chris

Grandparents on both sides big families. LOADS of cousins all across MO IL IA UT ID and WI. A few have recently passed but ever more on the way with a great many large families in the mix still making babies. One cousin had 6 children where they have ALL had at least 3 each, Her brother has five with two grands already and my own brother's children seem to very productive!!

Sorry for your loss Ray, even when it’s time to go like that it’s still sad.
I have 0 first cousins, so it’s always been easy to remember them all!! If I go up a generation, mom only had 1 first cousin plus an adopted first cousin. So that’s 2 second cousins on mom’s side, about 8 on dad’s side, but most of them are way older and far away. Grandpa was 38 when he got married and the second youngest in his family so it’s like almost a generation off.

My dad had 2 brothers and 8 sisters and they all had at least 1 and some had 4 or 5. When granny Francis died they told at her funeral there was something like 35 grandkids and 60 something great grandkids. It's always been a running joke when we get together at Christmas seeing how many new husbands/wives/cousins show up. Some of the cousins are on their 3rd or 4th marriage so by the time you get that far out it's pretty hard to keep up. I've got 1 Aunt that knows them all so she's the one that always gets asked "who is that?"

Ray, prayers for you and your aunt's family. Dad had 11 brothers and sisters, all gone now; Mom had 1 brother and 3 sisters, all gone. Mom's dad made it to almost 101 and one sister made it to 105 and still had a sharp mind. Myself and one cousin who is in her 80's are the only two of the following generation left on Mom's side, lost one cousin who was like a sister to me a few years back, I am still close to her kids, grandkids and great grandkids. Got a bunch of second cousins on that side of the family that I seldom see. Never knew Dad's parents, they passed not long after I was born. Still in touch with all of the cousins that are left on that side but sadly do not know many of their kids.

If that mercury didn't get you back then it probably hasn't done much damage. I have heard that one of the worst things to cause dementia is aluminum cookware, especially if food is allowed to stand in it for a while. I will only use cast iron, ss, or enamel................. uhhh..........now what were we talking about?

Thank you for the prayers, the hardest part is having to watch sharpe people have go downhill this way. She and her husband distributed Farmer John pork to a number of counties here to all independent grocery stores and a lot of restaurants. Then got together with a small grocery chain (10 to 20 stores)and cut and packaged all there beef. Her husband was the promoter but she was the brains that took care of the accounting and knew where the money was. Had a bunch of trucks and the cutting room ran 24 hours a day. The grocery chain sold which they knew was coming and things slowed. Was time to retire so they sold business, which the new owner bankrupted on purpose.
I checked in with my big sis and she says only 3 cousins are gone. My sis tryed getting all the local (200 miles or less ) cousins on my dads side together last Jan not all made it. But one in Texas said he would like to do that and May was a good month so we will see how it goes in 2019.
I do alright at recognizing most of the 2nd cousins that live close that I see once a year, but danged if I can get the names straight.
I guess that goes with not being able to spell, and the spell check that works about a 1/3 of the time on this site. So PLEASE EXCUSE me.

I got loads of cousins and my 95 year old mom is the only 1 that keeps track of all of them. When she's gone , my older sis might remember, I can't. Hoping things are going to be alright for your family.

Dad was a single child. Mom had two siblings but only one had two kids so that means I only have two cousins and those two don't even speak to each other. They don't have any kids so you see where that family tree is going.

My Mom's side of the family is real easy, as I have only 3 uncles on her side. Two of them each had only one child and one had two, so I have only 4 cousins on my Mom's side. Now my Dad's,,,,,,that's another story..... His oldest sister had 15 and one died at birth. Oldest brother had 5. Next brother had none, he raised ALL of us. Next, was Junior and he had 11. Then came Dad and he had 5, 4 girls and me. Then the baby, my aunt Tootsie, she had 9. I knew the names of ALL my first cousins and my second cousins too. And there's a passel of them second cousins too.... BIG Family!!
