One afternoon bailing hay I went over a steep hill in 4th and it felt like something let loose and I looked down and my “trans. 1800” light flashed for a second. I thought maybe it was just the hitch slack on the baler when I went over the hill and maybe there’s a short in the wire or something, although it hasn’t happened before. Today I was brushhogging in 2nd and went over a little hill and I felt it again and looked down to see my light flash and this time I know it shifted me to low on the PD. That may be what it did bailing I can’t remember if I was in high. I can’t get it to do it if I try. It has 150 hours on all new filters and new 821xl fluid, I cleaned the pump screen, and an engine overhaul. The oil level is a little high in the cab. Any ideas?

Sounds like low on oil, but If it is full on dipstick in cab, must have ben a steep place for all the oil to run to front away from pump pickup. MACK

With the tractor sitting on LEVEL ground for 30 minutes, slide the seat all the way back and pull and wipe off the dipstick more than once and look at BOTH SIDES of the dipstick. You must be a gallon or two low on oil.

Checked again setting overnight on the concrete shop floor and it’s 1/4” over the full on both sides. Forgot to mention the pump must have been replaced by the previous owner it’s bright aluminum instead of painted black like the piston pump.

The fact that the light flashes and the tractor freewheels means the pump isn't getting oil. If you continue to travel that steep slope, you have two choices.......#1. overfill the tranny 1 gallon at a time until the problem goes away.... #2. do nothing and live with it. I have NEVER had one of those tractors experience what you are claiming if they were full of oil. That must be one UNSAFE hill to be on.

The pump for PD IS the one on inside that you don't see. I'm like Dr. never saw that happen. MACK

Only time I ever had that kind of problem was when I'm low on oil, same as Mack and Dr. Allis.
