I've been running a good quality 10W-30 conventional engine oil in my 1955 WD45 and 1949 WD ever since I've owned them.  We buy bulk Chevron 15W-40 engine oil (55 gallon drums) for our irrigation engines.  We run Chevy 454s/350s and an occasional Minnie motor and have never tore one apart yet (knock on wood).  As this oil is readily available and cheap, would there been any cons to me using 15W-40 oil in my WD45 and WD from here on out besides cold weather starting?  Thanks!

everytime I switched from an automotive oil to a diesel oil the gassers within a few months started to leak and seep around gaskets, oil seals etc. if you've had good luck with automotive oils in the old iron, I would stick with it.

I tried to follow the science, but it was not there. I then followed the money, and that’s where I found the science.
