D17 rim may be wider and fit too? Yep that new cost sounds about right. Guess thats why I try to save them if possible. And Yes the std rim width is 12 inches for a 45.
Regards,
 Chris

If you're buying new rims, buy them off of what size tire you're putting on it. Not what is correct for the tractor. The tire guys can help you with this. a 13" rim is for a 14.9 tire, 15" for a 16.9. You can go one size either way and be ok, but if you're buying new, you might as well get the best one.

Mine had the suggested rim size on the sidewall of the tires.  I believe I paid $250 for the one I bought, but that is in MI, which would make it a little more with S&H for you.  The one I bought had the slide rails welded along the the sides of the rails not the original way they were welded.  I was not doing a restore so it didn't matter to me.

I put 2-13" rims on mine with 14.9 x 28 tires-Firestone. Original rims were 12" as Doc said. That size tire really works nice with the wider rims.

I fixed up a couple of rims of one of our 17's series 4 and they measured 13 inches like Doc talks about. These had 16.9x28 Firestone field and roads, Going to put on new Firestone 23 degree SAT II 6 ply's.
