I was just wondering if anyone had built their own 3 point hitch for a wd45 or if there is a website that has a blueprint of how to build your own 3 point hitch. I am pretty good at fabricating and welding but I would like to have a design to look at rather than trying to guess my way through it. Any help would be appreciated. |

Yes, I built one for my WD. Worked real well. I used the same pin the drawbar pulls from as the starting point. Cost a LOT less than ones on market. It was strong enuff to raise the front of the WD lifting/skidding heavy logs.

Only issue I have with mine that we built is that is moves a good bit with in the snap coupler.. Will try to get some pics.. it is not fance but cheap and worls real well for everything I do with it.

I built my own for my WD. I bought the arms and pins. The rest I built from scrap I hade around. It works great and I do not have to remove the drawbar, all for less the $90.00 two years ago. ------------- 190XT - D17 - D14 - WD45 w/loader - WD - (2)B110 - 616H - 610 - B-208 - WD with 190 Mounted Corn Picker - All Crop 60 |

Gerald J, I would rather spend a little time and a little money to build something myself and take pride in it, than I would spend $400-800 for something on the market. Thanks. |

| Pippin, I made one for my D10. I looked on line at one and printed one with it mounted and one of all the parts. I took the mounted one and looked at tractor and took all my measurements and went from there. I bolted it to the drawbar. I think I used 2x2x1/4 angle iron and wielded 7/8 round threaded for a lock nut, or maybe I pinned it and afterwards thought I should have lock nut it. I don't think I had much more than an hour making it. I'm like you, I wasn't going to spend $400 on something I can make for $50 or less. I can put the money I saved towards a paint job or other parts. After market is after market, if you made it yourself or buy it, its still after market. |

| Locate and purchase a AC SC adapter and your done, then it can be used on other SCX tractors, retains value for re-sale. I have one I will sell. They are heavy, shipping is high $$. |

Not trying to make the guys mad that sell 3 point hitches,there is prolly only about 5 percent that would try to make their own hitch,I enjoy makin all kinds of stuff,always lookin for different ways to do things.

Pippen... As I mentioned...start at the front where the drawbar pulls from...it's about a 1 inch pin. That way you pulling from same place tractor was designed to pull from. I used 3/8 x 3 x 3 angle irons and welded thickening pads on each end after I bend them a bit to fit the angle..that is the angle from abt 5 inches wide at the pin to abt 3-1/2 feet wide at the lift arms. I used a 3" piece of angle Iron (1/2' thick) as a mount to the drawbar. I welded 3/4" flat plate on each end to mount the pins. I also welded a 1/2" plate in the middle of it and bolted it to the drawbar so as to be sure it would not pivot.

| Thanks everyone for all the info. I actually found a really good parts diagram on worksaver.com that I'm gonna use. Probably wont copy the hitch entirely but I think I will build the main frame of the hitch the same as they did. Went to TSC today and bought my lift arms. I will try and post a picture of it when I get done. |

| On my WD I just bolted a short piece of sturdy chain from the snap coupler arms down to the lift arms. Works great. Can adjust it too, just lenghten or shorten the chains. For some of my attachments I even use a chain for the top 3rd link, or a power pole bolt with the eyebolt ends. I will eventually put something more solid but the chain thing works and is quick to hook up...... |
