I have to keep my fingers into something all the time, LOL.  Thought you all would like to see a Buckeye cider press that I have been rebuilding. Will be put to good use here in about a month as we have 10 apple trees in the yard.
What we started with a couple weeks ago

Work in progress

And as it looks today. Bead blasted and painted, all new oak frame with Ash buckets and liquid trough.  Still have to build the upper hopper and add some wheels so it can be moved around. Original hand crank was missing but anyone who has hand cranked one of these knows that is a blessing. We will run it with one of our hit miss engines.

Jay If it was going to sit on the porch I would have left it alone as is the current rage but we will use it. It came out of an old  orchard where it had sat out its entire life and the wood was too rotten to save for use.  Wife wouldn't let me toss the old wood frame, she wants it by the house to put flower pots on,, Women!!Angry

Looks great, Butch! Nice to see another piece of the old machinery restored, you can't find anything that good these days. And you best do what the Boss says with the old frame, and no grumbling!

We had one just like it when I was a youngin. Put a fencepost on top and used it for leverage to squeeze every drop of that delicious juice. And yes hand cranking gets old quick.

Dad gum that is good work. Old gals and precision wood work really try my patience.. Dad gum hands shake so much being real precise is hard to do. I do like fresh cider. Last I had came from wallmart was sour, her old goats loved it.
