yesterday while using the 190 gas, I got a view of this.... 16.9x34 tire.  Expected something like this out of an old BF goodrich or something else, but a Firestone? Guess they deteriorate too.  Okay, the real question is, what would you do, stay with the 16.9 tires that are kinda an oddball size these days, or look for a good pair of 18.4 tires to put on the PA rims? tia ------------- He who says there is no evil has already deceived himself The truth is the truth, sugar coated or not. if you werent so far away id make you a deal on some decent 18.4x34 with newly painted rims as id like to go to 38's

| 18.4x34 is what it should have. going to 38" rims will reg new centers, step up rims or step up wedges. All are expensive. you can get new tires for about the same as any of the above. My 190 had tires that looked like that. I wish I would have put new tires on instead of used ones. this is my only tractor without new tires. I put used on since I didn't know if the tractor was a keeper but the tires on it wert good enough to drive it in or out of the shop. |

At the moment, a fellow says he has a decent 16.9x34 Good-Year long bar... Guess maybe thinking about putting on 18.4 tires just went out the window for now... Maybe watch for a good set of spin rail wheels ... or find some wedges for going to the standard rims and put 20.8x34 on her. Got a set of them... LOL Hate to dispute you Doc,... I'm looking at an old AC brochure FE-333A and it says, 7.50x16 front and 16.9x34 rear 6 ply adjustable rear tread- option 23.1x 30 & 18.4x34 (8 ply), 15.5x38, 16.9x34 and 18.4x34 (6 ply). Optional Power Shift rear wheels options - 13.6x38, 15.5x38, 16.9x34 and 18.4x34 (all 6 ply) and 18.4x34 (8ply) On my 190XT that came with the 15.5x38 tires, I put on 16.9x38 tires, made a difference in getting through mud and staying on top a little better. Options for the front were 6.50x16 and 10.00x16... Who would want a 6.50 on a One-Ninety?? Well Doc, just for some fun, I looked up what the standard size on a D19 was from a 1962 sales book.... 15.5x38 The info I had on the 190 was from this brochure...  And what really counted was what the sales book said... which I don't think I have one that listed the 190/190XT in. So... You are more than likely correct in the early sales of the 190's since the D19 was listed that way too - 15.5x38. Funny part is, there's so many d19/190s's sitting on 18.4x34 that I would have thought they were the standard tire... | I would guess the 15.5 x 38's that were actually sold was so low, they decided to make the 16.9 x 34 as the new standard equipment. They probably had a big pile of 38 inch wheel center castings sitting there is Milwaukee to get rid of. |

| On my XT, I went to 18.4 38's quite a few years ago and really like them. My gasser has always had 18.4 34's on it, and one of them started looking like the one in JC's picture a while ago. Finally got a set used, but like new, 18.4 34's on it about a month ago. But now, as I am using it to spray corn, I wouldn't mind having a set of 15.5 38's on it. I am getting by with it, but I think 15.5's would work better. But then when I put it on the rake for all summer, the 18.4's are better for that. Maybe I need one more tractor, so I can have it all. Look at the brochure pic, 16.9x34 on the 190, lot's of space under it's fender, on the XT it looks like 18.4x34 with not much room, wonder what 18.4 x38 would have looked like. | I have 18.4-38 tires on mine and there's plenty of clearance,probably 4 inches or so. Granted they're down to about 25 percent now. I'd never go with a shorter tire then a 18.4-34,just doesn't look right. Ass end sits to low then. Mine had 16.9-34s then I went to 18.4s then I went to 38 inch step-up rims. |

| Dads early XT had 18.4X38's on it. In the 22 years I was in the tire business I put several sets of 16.9X34's on 190 gas tractors. I never saw a set of 16.9's on a diesel. I never saw a set of 15.5X38's on an xt either. Must have been a dealer order item. If I still owned my tire shop, 16.9X34 8 ply tires should cost you around $525.00 each + tubes + pumping fluid if you have it. That would have been today's price here in central Iowa, but I don't own the shop now. |

The 10x16 front tires mentioned above, are they on a 8x16 wheel? Tires are normally 2” wider correct? That’s what I’m looking for right now. My 7.50x16 rims are loose at the lug holes and want to replace them. I got a set of 10.00 x 16 rims and tires off a 200 at the tractor wrecking yard a few years back. I dont have a yard nearby. My neighbor has a 200 and it has 10x15 on it. Confusing. So yours are 10x16 tires? Pretty sure it would be a 8 inch rim as the sites I have visited say tire should be 2 inches wider than the rim. If its any way possible, could you put a straight edge on the inside rim edge and measure the distance to the hub please? That’s the distance that I am trying to find. I measured the rim with the 9.5L X 15 tire on it as I had it off to repair a flat. On the side of the tire to the center of the rim was about 3 1/2 inches.This is off a 185.

| JC(WI), Sorry to see your 190's tire giving out & showing its tube. My 7060's 18.4-38s have some cracks for past 2 years, but no tubes showing yet. I've been saving up for new tires cause it's just a matter of time. Could you put 18.4s on your 16.9's rims, or would 18.4s require a wider rim? |

Interesting. Do you think AC installed that pile of 38" centers later on the 200 tractors? Or, would the early 190 axle hubs been too small diameter for anything other than D19s? If so, could AC have machined (re-bore) the smaller 38" cast centers to fit larger 200 axles? |

| Wheel centers from D-19/190/190XT/200/7000/D-21 will all interchange. There are two axle bushings....2 3/4" and 3 1/4". Both bushings fit every wheel center from these models. |

Demandred, Cut out the rusted area and weld a patch in from another rim or weld a patch over the hole where the valve stem was, then go to opposite side and drill a new hole an approximate place as the other hole was and then take a bolt to fit the hole and heavy washers and tighten the bolt till the area is flattend out. ------------- He who says there is no evil has already deceived himself The truth is the truth, sugar coated or not.
