I found this powermax sickle last winter, through a want ad on craigslist.  A former dealer reached out and had this this, NOS!  Took me till march to fetch it, and until now to get sometime to mount it.  I'm very pleased with how it cuts.  Feels, sounds and cuts like my smaller Simplicity garden tractor sickles, but I really love the long reach.

I mow a long ditch, and have always had to let quite a bit stay long, due to the slope and width.  With the duals on the 616 and the longer mower, I can cover it all pretty well now.  Real comfortable ride, though I began to wonder about the Onan's lubing while running 100 yards at a time on a sidehill.

I actually picked up this 616 from a member of the forum here, while on my roadtrip to retrieve the sickle.  Happy to have them together.

Like the duals. wonder what floatation duals would look like on mine? lol. Great mower. I bought mine from a forum member 2 years ago. Used very little. Still had the origonal paint on it. The bottom of the skids was missing very little paint. No chips out of any of the knives. They perform very well, just like dad's full size 82R. Shakes my 720 pretty well is my only complaint. Higher rpm seams to help. Broke my first knive this past weekend. I mow along a driveway and bank. Also trim my 3 acre field with it. Good luck, you will enjoy it.

Have same complaint about shaking but as you say higher rpm seems to smooth it out

First mower I've seen that the shoe wasn't out on the end

I’m not quite sure what you mean…? Are you talking about the swath board?

+What do you guys do with the chain when you let blade down ? Am thinking it would get tangled up real easy. I have a rod on mine and it just sort of swings out of the way.

I just hook mine over the brake pedal. I tried on the steering tie rod but it binds. On the garden tractors I hook it on the frame but there isnt a good spot to do that on the powermax.

I remove it when I mow and just lay it at the garage.

I don't even recall how it's mounted...bolted or pinned to the mower?  I use it for the drive back home after my mowing.  I don't care for any more driving around with the mower bouncing on that cable that I have to, plus, even when lifted, that machine has quite a wingspan with the sickle hanging out there.  The chain pulls them up real nice and snug for travel and storage, which is nice.

I am talking about the shoe that ride or slide on the ground. They are usually on each end of the sickle bar.

That is the correct location for that mower. Mine is the same way. Wide shoe at the opposite end. Allows for the swath board to be easily removed since it is not attached to the shoe is my opinion.

My chain has a pin with a hitch pin for easy removal. Really no good place to put it without fear of loosing it so that’s why i lay it at the garage when i put it back inside. A small tool box mounted on a side rail would be useful to place it in I suppose.
