I know soil conditions mean everything but how much horse would an 8' offset disc with notched blades such as this one require? I know it's only 8' but it looks pretty aggressive.

My CA could pull it down the road, but if I were to lower it I'd probably want something around 100hp..

We pull a 10' Hutchmaster offset with our 8010 fwa (127hp). I would say ours is as aggressive as the one in the pic but might be a bit heavier. We get along good in low 3rd with the power director in low. We have newer firestone radials on both the back (20.8x38) and front (14.9X28). Ours seems to be a good match, but it takes it all. If we flip it out of fwa we get alot of wheelslip. We use ours mostly to incorporate our beef cow manure into corn and soybean fields. It does a great job for us. Also we have clay loam soil here in MD and our land is pretty level. I would think 85hp would pull it but more than likely traction would be the limiting factor in most cases.

I have a 6 ft Athens disc that looks like that, it has 24" smooth blades and I pull it with my 175D. I have used it behind the D17 on cornstalks but conditions have to be right & it still works the daylights out of it. I'm with Stewart, 85hp at least, 100 much better. HTH...Harvey

We have a 10' with smooth blades on the back we pull with the 7000 in 3rd 1. It has weights and fluid in biased tires and knows its there but still gets along fine. Our dirt has a lot of clay its nothing like most of the rest of the state.
