Picked up this d-14 this wkend. Was restored yrs ago and used for hay rides. It runs excellent, only thing not working is temp gauge. Was surprised how nice it steered w/ no p/s.  I guess the steering box was changed, cause i thought all d-14s had the bare spoke wheel, right ??   Was a very hot trip to eastern carolina in my non a/c pickup!! just for fun we blew a trailer tire on the way home, wife says I owe her one !!

NICE !! But I gotta ask, ain't it too far forward on the trailer ? Seems like a heckuva lot of 'tongue' weight to deal with.
RE: temp gauge. be SURE to DRAIN about 1/2 the  rad BEFORE you go to replace the temp sender ! yeah I KNOW first hand why..... My D-14s ain't as pretty but I didn't like antifreeze/water all over the place...
All D-14s steer easy, the secret..... put oil/grease  where it's supposed to beSmile

Enjoy your D14Approve  Just remember don't get too far in debt with those "MALL POINTS" they will cost you more than you realize.  Lucky for me, my wife would rather spend a day in a junkyard with me that be forced to go near a mall.

Thanks, after I blew a trailer tire I turned the tractor around & backed on, it was too much on the tongue, but I trusted the michelins on the truck, more than the trailer tires.

Nice D14! Enjoy it. That looks like a lot of tractor for that trailer, how did it pull once you got the tractor  turned around? And do you have brakes on both trailer axles?

Only the early D14s had the bare spoke steering wheel that you mention.  A serial number break at 19001 changed the steering wheel to one with coated spokes.  By the look of yours, it's probably a 1959 or 60 with these updates.

Nice tractor!
What, exactly, do you owe your wife now?  A new tire?  Or you talking generally, since you got yourself a toy, she wants one too?

Hubert it is a load for that trailer, 3500#  axles, brakes on one axle.  Wasn't  bad, been used to stopping 80000#, been truck driving for 35 yrs. When I can get a bigger truck I'll upgrade my trailer for sure !    John, the wife started looking at high dollar beach vacations soon as we got home !!

You have what is commonly called a black bar grill tractor. As already stated, they have the black coated steering wheel with either an A-C diamond logo or 'Power Steering' in the center. The grill had a black perimeter surround with black horizontal bars and a silver screen from the factory. Very Nice
