I sold my Allis, but i know you guys are a wealth of info on small grain due to the fine All-Crops.   I did yard art this year. Four squares of about 500 sq ft each, red amarath, purple amaranth, quinoa  (pink flowers) and flax.  All are doing well except the flax.  I live in NW Missouri.  Too hot here for Flax?  I know I didn't plant it heavy enough, and I did not find a source of agricultural seed so what I planted was expensive.   I know I didn't plant the rows close enough together  (12")  and some other folks suggested planting in roto tilled soil was not a good thing.    Have not really talked with too many experienced folks, so if anyone cares to opine, I am listening.  Thinking about rape or mustard for the 4th color next year, though I love the blue flax if I can figure out how to do it right.
Thanks in advance.

Grandma always had the blue/purple flax growing along her driveway every year. she just let it go to seed naturally. we've also planted some in or CRP ground, and all it took was throwing the seed out on top of the ground by hand!

not 'agricultural' seed go me wondering if it'd been 'killed' like 'bird feed' is to prevent it from germinating ? Maybe it was 'old' seed ?
What I am sure is someone here MUST know the reason why your flax didn't come up...just be patient for a day or two.

What I planted came up.  I had poor info on how dense to plant it.  It has not branched out yet and there are some tiny blue flowers.   Seed sources I had were for annual and perenial. I bought the annual, but it did not even indicate if it was an oil plant or fiber.  If anybody out there still plants flax, maybe I could buy a pound from you.  Or I bought 50 lbs of Sunn Hemp to use as fall cover crops.  It was so expensive to buy a few pounds I bought 50.  If someone wants to read up on Sunn Hemp i would be willing to trade a pound of Sunn Hemp for a pound of flax seed
