Got a 99 Dodge 3500 and the ac only works on the high fan blower setting ? Anyone know what could be going on here ? Smells like something is getting hot too, thanks

I had one that the fan resistor for the switch was bad and only worked on high for both heat and air. It didn't smell , and was a different dodge. The resistor was the coil type and in the fans air stream.   HTH

not familiar with the Dodge, but FORD and CHEVY both use a resistor pack to vary voltage  for 1-2-3-4 speed fan motor. To keep it cool, the resistor pack is normally stuck inside the duct air flow.. On a lot of trucks, you lay on the passenger floor and look up under the glove box and there is a small " block" with  a 4 pine wire harness going to it.. It bolts to the underside of the air duct and the resistors stick into the air flow.

One fix is haul off and hit the dash with your fist as hard as you can. Fixed my daughters.

Oh Boy Steve, I had to go and look at that thread you posted.  Now I'll be bugged by Ebay for the next week for all things Dodge!  My own fault!

I worked for dodge for 20 years I would say resister ,when they go out it will only blow on high so you don't lose all speeds ,high does not use resister,

change blower motor also, motor going bad will only run on high and burn up resister
plug on motor may be melting, mine melted off
