Dad rat it, went to plant sweet corn tonight, had about a third of a bushel of seed left over from last year. Dog gone stuff was covered in thick white mold looking stuff. Tossed it in the burning barrel and planted some of the same stuff that we planted earlier. This seed was kept on a shelf in a dry place, wonder what it was.

My guess would be too much moisture in the seed. Had basically the same thing happen to a bag of deer corn. Put it in an old freezer in a dry unheated building last fall and forgot about it until this spring. Had white mold all over it and there was about 1/2" of moisture in the bottom of the freezer and the freezer was dry when I put it in there.

You know for sure Shameless has not been by??????????????LOL

I realize much less humidity out here but have had seed corn in a dead refrigerator for several years and always grew when put in damp dirt.

Ray, I don't think he has been sneaking over to Georgia but you never know. Might have been trying to get good coordinates for the "machine" since he missed me every time last year. Of course I have a few cousins that would do the same thing and they live pretty close.
