Hi Everyone,
I recently acquired a late model D17. The brakes are worn, but it stops.
I have 2  initial questions.
1. My brake pedals go from nothing to pretty well full on, very little  gradual engagement. Is this normal?
2. If I only do the left side brakes will I be able to keep the tractor and a small square baler from rolling away on a mild incline. I don't like to shut the tractor down to make an adjustment on the baler as then it plugs when restarting sometimes.
Thanks, Tom

Depends on what you define as a mild incline and how much load the tractor is holding back. If this were in an industrial setting the answer would be no.

If both brakes perform the same, I'd say they are fine, as long as they don't sound like they are grinding iron on iron. That band & disc brake worked quite well when they aren't worn out. If the brake latch is in good shape, you should have no issues. You can lock the brake pedals together for dual braking action when parked. If you can't lock the brake pedals together, it isn't a series 4.
