Hello all im from the UK and I'm looking at buying allis model B
I would like one with the curved front axle but can only seem to find the straight type.
Generally because I would like to lower it. Not one for the purists here and it would be something different at the shows around here.
Also if anyone could give me some more information on the them that would be great.
Top speed, engine options and conversions possible.

Tim, your putting your posts in the "TALK" section. You need to put them in the "FARM EQUIP" section so more people will see them....

The "B" only had one basic engine in the USA. Started as 116 inch 4 cylinder and later upped the displacement to 125 inch. There may be "VERSIONS" in the UK that use Perkins or other motors , as Allis sold "kits" to the UK and you made a good portion of the parts over there. Electric would be Lucas in the UK, where most were DELCO in the US. All B models were 3 speed with a top speed under 7 MPH which is about 10 kmh ??

There are a couple Forum Members from the UK that post here occasionally. If you put a post in the "FARM EQUIP" section... and ask for their contact info.

7mph blimey not the best for a road run then haha

YEP... one of the slowest old tractors around. I would guess 90% of the "B" in the USA have the "ARCH" front axle. The straight adjustable axle was an option........ That might be different in the UK.

Is there no way of speeding them up a bit?
I know some taller tyres would add a little bit then it would also make it look pretty silly.

NOPE......... lots of guys on this side of the pond have the same trouble with tractor rides... the B and C modelsl cant keep up....... Wide open throttle was about 16-1700 rpm on the older units.. You could modify the governor to get 2100 rpm which would gain maybe 20% or another 1 mph........ still way under 10 mph.

Tim I have a IB ( same gearing as the B ) the wife calls it her tractor, it has the 1800 gov. spring, and goes 11 mph. Tractor drives we go to are 10 mph. so it works sort of. I installed a ca transmission in the IB it now will run 17 mph. The torque housing needs to be ground out for the bottom shaft of the transmission, it is also 1.25 inch longer than the B trans. Axles and pto all bolt up to the ca transmission. Hope this helps.
