I have a 716H and going down hills the hydrostatic surges terribly on it almost throwing me out of the seat (its like it is freewheeling and then the hydro finally kicks in). It is more pronounced in low propel speed mode.  Going up hills is no problem...it does not have this jerkiness.   Is there a way to adjust the hydro?

I changed the hydro oil and filter several days ago and replaced with the recommended oil.   Doing this did not improve the performance.

I noticed that I can rotate the tire 10-15 degrees before it hits any resistance...do I have something loose/wore causing this problem?

Thanks in advance for the help.
Terry

Your Bevel Gear Box bolts to the frame are loose.  This causes the belt tension to change while in use.  Lay under the machine and look for the 4 bolt heads against the frame, threaded into the BGB.  Tighten all 4 (5/8" wrench).  I would even suggest removing them one at a time and adding loctite.

With the tractor stationary it may be tough to tell they are backing out.  put a jack under the frame/BGB area and lift and you should see the tractor 'bend' in the center.  THe bolts could be worn now and need replacement.

Terry, the axle tube key just to the inside of the differential on right hand side of tractor may be worn also.
