I have an Allis Chalmers 6060 and the brakes do not always release after being applied. Also it seems they just randomly lock up while driving. Anyone else know of this problem?

Thanks
Alex

I had this problem when I first bought mine too. After some inspection I found out that the shaft that the pedals are mounted to was rusted up and they would not move independently, if you pushed one down they both would go down or sometime they would not come back up. It is a shaft inside of a larger tube, one pedal is mounted to the inner shaft and the other is mounted to the outer tube. When the grease dries up inside the tube then the shaft can't turn inside the tube and that brake will start locking up randomly. It's hard to explain but not that hard to fix. You have to remove the panel below the steering wheel to get at the brake pedal shaft, once you're in there I think there is a set screw or bolt to remove and then you should be able to remove the RH brake pedal by twisting and pulling it out of the tube. It has been a few years since I fixed mine but I think thats how it goes. Once the pedal/shaft is removed shine it up with emery cloth and grease it and put it together and see if the pedals move independently of each other. Hope this helps.
