L2 Gleaner with 670T - crank pulley shivs had slipped a bit so sent it to Dale mfg, beautiful repair and priced right.  A few hours later usage noticed the inner hub had cracked.  Wondered if I over torqued the bolt and the tapered shaft made it fail ?  Does anyone know the torque spec on the crank pulley bolt ?

thanks, smitty

So, the crank & hub tapered surfaces should be un lubricated during torque ?

That's what Mack said.

I was able to remove my 4 groove crank pulley without removing the radiator which was lucky but now having a hard time finding a replacement.  New over $1,500 (nearing value of entire combine, LOL), used $660, ouch.

New 3 groove around $500, but can you drive the alternator with just 1 belt and will it line up ?

Why don't those aftermarket monkeys offer a 4 groove ?  I'm not sure I've ever even seen a 3 groove setup, most are 4.

Anybody have a 4 groove for sale ?

Notice the crack in the inner hub aligns with keyway and threaded hole ... perhaps a weak path

Thanks,

smitty

duh ... answered my own question ... the 3 groove pulley is a tractor application with the single belt driving the AC compressor, likely was more field demand than the 4 groove in which 2 belts drive the hydraulic pump. I imagine 1 belt would drive the hydraulic pump but the shivs wouldn't match (AC belt is thinner than hyd belts) so I'll keep looking for a 4 groove. Almost bought an L2 for parts saturday at a sale, was hung on 1K for awhile but ended up at 3K per a good auctioneer.
