I've got an 06 Silverado that doesn't want to shift into passing gear. It up shifts through the gears just find but when I try to go to passing gear it vibrates and doesn't want to shift. If I mash the pedal down further it will shift. I had the trans serviced thinking maybe a clogged filter but no help there. I was told by the mechanic it might be the throttle position sensor but he says the scanner should it to be good. Anybody got a suggestion?

How is hard acceleration from a stop? Plenty of power and upshifts just fine? Can you manually downshift the transmission OK?

Take the mat out from under the pedal.

Start and upshift is fine. Haven't tried manual shifting. The problem doesn't start until things get warmed up. I'm pretty sure its a sensor somewhere that's about ready to go and throttle position sensor makes sense it just didn't show anything on the scanner.

I made some assumptions on engine/model. These are from Rockauto.com

Make sure they serviced the trans with the right kind of fluid, that should take the synthetic global fluid, assuming it was fine before the service.

It was acting up before. I read that it could be caused by a slight misfire that's not enough of a misfire to turn the light on. I'm sure it could use plugs, wires, etc so I'm going to go that route and see how it does then

Sounds like the valve body is sticking.
