At Cahokia IL has always been Cargill/Consolidated Grain and Barge as well Luis Dreyfus. I noted awhile back a new shop on the river, COFCO/Growmark. It is a Chinese based company that has partnered with US concerns to deal in our grains. Last week when I was at CG&B I noticed a line of shiny brand new Rail grain hoppers being unloaded at COFCO, these were marked for Wells Fargo rail lease. I guess we have a new player in the hauling side.

COFCO

Founded in 1952, it is one of the largest SOEs of those under the direct supervision of China's State Council. Between 1952 and 1987, it was the sole agricultural products importer and exporter operating under direct control of the central government. In 2007, COFCO had just over 60,000 employees in multiple locations in China as well as overseas operations in countries such as the US, UK, Japan, Australia, and Canada.

Besides the foodstuff business, COFCO has developed itself into a diversified https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Conglomerate_%28company%29" rel="nofollow - - planting , https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plant_cultivation" rel="nofollow - - food-processing , https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Finance" rel="nofollow - - warehouse , https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Transportation" rel="nofollow - - port facilities, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hotels" rel="nofollow - - real estate . https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/COFCO_Group#cite_note-2" rel="nofollow - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/COFCO_Group#cite_note-3" rel="nofollow - - US 's https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fortune_Magazine" rel="nofollow - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/COFCO_Group#cite_note-4" rel="nofollow -

All I know is that Growmark is an 100% USA company with headquarters in Bloomington, IL

It is a strange coupled agreement in that Growmark put their name in with them, I suspect major finances were offered to get the US name on the gate.
