My WD has been running pretty good, but I was doing some raking today and she wouldn't restart after shutting it down to clear a clog in the rake. Turned over real, real slow, and wouldn't start. The battery is up, tuned up recently, popped off good when I started her up before raking. Any ideas?

I'd say look for a burnt wire or a bad connection somewhere in the ignition,,sounds to me like that'd be the place to start,,,,,bad ground Possably?

Check your water level. Also check your oil. Make sure you don't have one where the other should be. May want to pull the plugs and see if any water got in there. May have blown a head gasket. I hope not, but it never hurts to check. Pretty easy to rule it out. If it still turns over really slow, you may want to pull the spark plugs and put the hand crank on. See if it still has resistance with the clutch disengaged. I hope not, but it may have spun a bearing. Eliminate these, and the rest of the troubleshooting won't make you feel so bad. Good luck.

Are you letting your tractor idle a few minutes before shut down? If you don't temps can spike and really tighten things upon shutdown. Just like an old work horse they need to cool down when lathered up.

Along with all the other things mentioned, your timing could be a tad off if it starts hard warm. The hard cranking could be sludge build up around the outside of the cylinder sleeves as Dave E. mentioned the other day. The build up settles around the bottom of the sleeves restricting cooling of the cylinders. When the engine is shut down the cylinders close up from excessive heat. Good advice to let her cool down a bit.
