| We change them at the farm by lifting the mower from the front and standing it up,with the payloader. since its a Woods 21' we use the loader to lift the blade assemblies on and off the spindles. it goes pretty fast but you need a 1" impact to get the bolts out. once the blade assembly is on the bench swapping the cutting edges is real easy. my little L306 I stand up with the tractor loader set it on the front edge that way I can stand up pulling the blades and cleaning the bottom. I do it every fall before hanging it on the wall for winter. |

| Then there was the time mine had sat for a few years and the PTO shaft was seized to where it wouldn't telescope. After many sensible strategies to free it failed, things got crazier as I got madder. At one point, I had lifted the entire thing off the ground by the front yoke of the PTO and was jerking the loader up and down.....still wouldn't budge. Guess I could have changed the blades then! Who would think rust was that dang strong! |

It's always a PITA. I use jack stands to hold the lift arms up and proceed to start cussing as the bolt is one of those that is tight the whole 20 turns to get the nut off using a 6 foot cheater pipe. I agree, pick it up on one end so it's staring you in the face. Those barrels are STILL too low for me to crawl under...My back hurts enough. Uster do it from underneath, on the AC 160, just back up to a bank, lay on the ground, and TCB. then I gots the kuboter, and a cheap howse 4' BH. first did it from underneath, and hadda drop that 80 lb stumpjumper and the blades, drag the SJ assembly out from under, and then take the blades off. Then I got out the hole saw, and drilled a hole in the deck, on that SOB! Now it takes about 15-20 mins.

Used to put mine on jack stands and crawl around underneath and hope it don't fall over on me. Now I just stand it up and battle is on only easier. |
