My brother in law sold his sister's pickup to my son for $400.
It is a 1984 Dodge 1/2 ton automatic with slant 6 engine . It has excellent tires. 2W-drive .It has AC, and is a two tone red and off white, she bought it in 1985 title showed 9000 miles. She is in a nursing home and he had to sell her assets.
It has a slight cut in seat also she dinged the tailgate. Some mouse damage on wires. We went and got it. The gas had been treated each winter it sat and put in a new battery , pumped it and it started. Runs REAL QUIET.Drove 20 miles home. It has
Only been started the last 3 years. Aired the tires, they werent flat and drove it 20 miles home. Tuned fluides changed lights fixed, if we need to do brakes he won't have near 1000 in it.
ABSOLUTY NO RUST ! EXHAUST IS SOLID THE FULL LENGTH OF THE TRUCK. Shined up great. Never been left outside. She didn't drive it on salty roads.
I don't know how to post pictures but wish I could. I told him that if I was him I'd give it to My Dad !!!!

When I saw 9000 miles I thought WOW, but even 59,000 isn't bad. less the 1,800 miles per year.  Bet your son will top that quickly!

Your age is showingTongue. That $40000 will not guaranty he can walk on a new car lot and find a new one priced less than that. Beside this truck will still be fixable when parts for a new one are NLA.

I do hope the young man appreciates this truck for what it is dose not have to see how much he can modify it.

He is VERY appreciative!
Of course my son is 44 years old with 5 kids and 2 step kids. 2 graduated from collage and 2 graduating from high school this year. He has a shop that's 48 x 40 with a hoist to put vehicles up on. When I need to get under my truck it goes over there to work on. He gave me a key ! I have a 24x24 shop but no hoist. He does maintenance work at a large local church we are all members of. He does electrical , remodeling, plumbing and works on the equipment there. He is in charge of a very large garden at the church which provides fresh veggies to a Christian youth organization in town . He's been offered jobs making twice the $ but he can work here on his own schedule so he can spend time with family. He loves Christ his wife and kids ! I told him, when I grow up I want to be like him.

Hadda 1979 D-100, with the slant 6, loved that truck/motor combo, ran that truck through 3 engines, back in college, commuted 45 mins each way.  Somebody mashed the rs front fender into the tire, in a head on, took an adjustable wrench and turned the metal outta the tire, drove it home.  Collected like $1100, on that hit, straightened it out farmer style, by backing it up against a 'lectric pole, and wiping the dents forward!  toward the end of its life, I could change the engine out, in like 2-1/2 hrs, and didn't need to take the hood off!Thumbs Up
