Baby chicks are supposed to leave the hatchery around 3 and be here around 3:30. Last I heard thunderstorms, hail, and possible isolated tornados are supposed to be here between 3 and 3:30

Glad you got them safely in the houses. Hope you don't get any rough weather up your way.

They come in plastic boxes that are about 30 inches by 18 inches and about 6 inches deep. They're lined with brown paper for a couple of reasons: 1) they can reuse the boxes by throwing the paper away and putting new paper in and 2) they can test the manure on the paper to check for sickness. Some companies don't use paper and they have to wash the boxes before they can be used again.

Good Luck with this new batch of chicks... and glad the storm was delayed long enough for you to get them settled in.

Hope you didn't get any bad weather last night. Just a good bit of thunder and lightning down here and less that 1/2" of rain.

It's nasty getting chicks in the rain but not as bad for me as for the truck driver. He has to unload the truck with a Moffet fork lift with no top. He's just out there in it
