Has anyone planted sunflowers with an AC 72? Looking for info on what Deere plates you used with sprocket combos.

I have a half bushel of seeds I saved from last fall. I have a JD 7000 and put a handful in bean meter and they seemed to go thru fine. I'm going to no till a bunch into my CRP ground this spring. They would probably work OK in the corn meter too, with the finger pick ups. Hope you figure out what you need for a plate. I have a 5 gallon bucket full of plates here, but never went thru to size them and don't even know for sure what they fit. Seems like I got them when I bought a scrap 4 row Allis planter many years ago.

Works very well with Deere finger pickups. Over the years I probably did 125-150 acres. I’m a huge fan of Deere’s planting equipment.

That's good to know Victory. I may not even switch to bean meters this spring. One is broken and needs replaced, and I have been sowing soybeans in my plots with Grandpa's old Cyclone seeder and just dragging them in with the 4 wheeler.

If you plant salted seeds . . . do you get already salted when you pick them?

Mine get planted with a Deere 494 planter, I think I run the Lustran B7-24 plates. These are made for medium flat corn but they do just fine on sunflower seeds. You don’t have to use the specific plate for a seed, if you have a bunch of plates you can use one that the seed fits in. It’s not as precise as the plate made for it but it works. Just make sure to turn the plate by hand with some seeds in the box to make sure your not grinding up the seed!
