Have been looking at buying a 8000 series fwa. Really needing the horsepower of the 8070. If I find a nice 8050 will it handle being set to the 8070 specs? Norms book says the 8070 fwa was build on the 8050 chassis so are the radiator, differential, and finals the same? They both use the same 670 engine right? Going to be replacing my 7060 that’s turned up 20%, but I’m thinking the fwa will make up for the horsepower difference.

The chassis/drivelines in the FWA model are identical. The engines are identical EXCEPT for the radiator size, counter-balanced crankshaft, the fluid dampener, the rated RPM of 2400, and the injection pump settings.  Air cleaner might be bigger too.

How will the 8050 radiator compare to a 7060 radiator? I can’t use the horsepower I have on a warmer day and have to shift down to keep below 200 degrees. I guess I should probably stick with finding a 8070 to eliminate that worry.

I have worked my 7060 pretty hard and haven’t over heated it yet. My 8030 on the other hand has been fussier.

I think the 8070 will do what you want. We pulled a Kinze 16 row planter with 15 inter plant with a 7060 that was pretty stout. It was lacking a little in power and traction. My brother purchased the 8070 and it handles it well.

I put new Firestone 20.8 radials on the back and it gets more bite with them. It started getting hot so pulled the radiator and had it boiled and rodded. Wish I would have found a 7080 rad for it, but it still gets warm on a 90 degree day pulling the Phillips harrow and 26’ disc. I’m keeping the 7060 but would like to find a nice 8070 fwa and powershift.

Black 7060 radiator and 8050 radiator are basically the same.  8050 is 154 HP and 7060 is 161 HP.
