I have a couple qestions on my 8070 that I bought in pieces and am trying to get the final pieces put together. First off, I had to get a new engine wiring harness for it, because the previous owner "lost" the old one, and the proper harness for my serial number range was not available, so I got one for the next older serial number range, because that one was available (go figure). The one issue we ran accross seems to be the wiring for the alternator. The alternator on my tractor just has 2 electrical threaded studs on the bottom side of it, and the harness seems to have only one alternator wire. I am not sure what kind of alternator is on the tractor because there is no label on it. I  assume it is the factory alternator. Any one have any idea what alternator would have  just the 2 threaded studs on it, and what should be connected to each of them?                Secondly, my engine oil pressure light won't go out (yes, it does have oil pressure), and we have the problem narrowed down to being in the idiot light panel itself, which is not available anymore. Anyone have an idea how to deal with that issue?  Thanks in advance for any and all help.  Darrel

Most 8000 series used a niehoff alternator.Very few that I have seen used a delco,unless the niehoff went bad ,then it was cheaper to replace with the delco.The niehoff has two threaded posts -one for the large orange wire and the other is just a ground stud,which was not used on the allis.The power post will have an insulator around the stud.Be sure the wire you are hooking to the oil sender is the correct one.There are several wires in the harness right in that general area.They are not all used in that application.Green wire with white stripe is what you want.It's a simple circuit-sender provides ground for the light-oil pressure breaks the ground,so light goes off.Bulb good?Wire continuity from sender to panel good?Engine harness to cab harness connector good?Maybe Ag-Express electronics in Ankeny,Iowa could fix the panel if that is the problem,or just a mechanical gauge would work also. thanks, Lynn. I guess we have the alternator wired correctly, we just were'nt sure it could be possible that it only had one wire going to it, and for some reason, we can't find a wiring diagram for the niehofff alternator. We also have the correct wire hooked to the oil pressure switch, and tested it all of the way from the plug on the back of the idiot light panel down. We lost continuity to ground as soon as we started the engine and got   oil pressure, so I'm quite certain the problem must be in the circuit board on the back of the lights.
