I purchased a Gleaner model E pull type combine. I would like to remove the header to narrow it up for the ride home. Has anyone done this? Any tips? Does anyone have a parts manual for this machine that could send me a copy of the header pages?

I’m glad you’re saving an E. My great-grandpa and his brothers used to have a pair of them. I believe they were 38 and 41 models. Sadly, the one they held on to was scrapped just a few months ago. I wanted to save it, but it was literally just a shell. Nearly every usable part was gone. I did save the accessory unloading auger attachment, though, in hopes I get an E someday to put it on .

There's a Case machine that is similar then this on a farm 8 or 10 miles from me. I could have it for the hauling but, other then it's a Case and I need another combine like a hole in my head, getting the header off so it's moveable makes it not worth trying.
Yeah Creston, I also thought about how to remove a head from a combine before reading the post. Thought probably the best way would be to run it until it comes out the back...
