I still use my 718H to mow my yard and also have the rear mounted tiller for it. I do till the garden each year also. So this is my question I have been at a lot of shows and never seen many of this model are there many in use yet? Also were there many made. I bought this used in the 80s I think. I overhauled it one time about 10 to 15 years ago. It still runs good but uses oil again will have to do something in the future. Thanks Dave

The 718 is a harder to find model.  It seems the production numbers were much lower than others.  The Simplicity 7018 is in the same boat.  That OHV Kohler is tough to find in running condition.  Many of the 18's I see are repowered with a 16 or other engine.  We would love to see it!  The 718 is one of a very few machines still on my wish list.

I have never had it to a show. I could bring it to the GOTO in Pontiac this fall if it is that rare. It runs good I figured it was a low production model as I have not seen any at shows that I have been at.

It would be great for a show!  Most folks probably won't know it's a harder to find model, as it looks just like all the other 700s, but an AC lawn and garden guy should.

Hi Dave.
Here's what I'd do until I can re-ring it, if that's your situation:
Are you blowing blue smoke out of the exhaust? That'd indicate worn cylinder and/or rings.
If that's the case, I would get a can of "Restore" , 4 cylinder size, at Auto Zone and pour half of it in right before I take off mowing and check the oil level when you're finished.
If it still uses oil, add the rest of the can when you're ready to mow again and see what you've got.
Just be sure to shake the can real good before you pour it in.
