Hey guys and gals, I'm in the process of restoring a 1965 Allis Chalmers FDX40-24 forklift with a Buda D175 diesel engine. The hour meter is not hours but revolutions/thousands. At the moment the unit has 215350 thousand revolutions. Does anyone know if there is a table for this, my manual mentions a table but does not have one. If I divide this number by 60 to get hours at 1000 rpm average I get 3589 hours on the engine. Am I in the right ball park or missing something? Thanks Harling P.S. You're in the right ball park, but, it depends on what ave running rpm really is...

In engines the hours were determined for full power rpm usage. Slower rpm less hours accrued on a mechanical gauge. My 180 tach will tabulate hour to clock hour at roughly PTO rated speed as I have found, not full tach speed but pulling speed. Electronic meters just clock time running. As a best guess for your machine, where the HP rated RPM is would be the hour to hour rate and without knowing where the tach drive or if is on a reducer gear as my 180 is off the back of the alternator there is not much standard to base on. |

| Ok thanks for the replies guys, I just thought it very odd to track time this way and thought there was a more accurate way to figure it out. I'll run the unit and figure what average rpms I do and go from there.:) |

I might guess the actual "average" rpm is more like 1500. ------------- Like them all, but love the "B"s. |
