You will be impressed how nasty it is to do track on an arbor press. Track chain is heavy clumsy difficult awkward ungainly unwieldy and dangerous. It is far easier to take a portable unit to the chain. There are many youtube video's showing work on crawler chains. Some of the portable presses look hand made. Remember the picture of my press I posted here. When pins and bushings were available the pins were undersize. Assembly could be done with a hammer. I would split the track, cut the chain into manageable lengths to work on the arbor press then assemble and tack weld each pin. I would only cut off part of the chain moving the crawler forward on to rebuilt chain. ghausner@mail2george.com |
