Mine was a 6080 that I still got.

My brother and I inherited the D14 and and 175 which our grandfather bought when they were 2 and 1 year old respectively.  Not long after that, we bought the D17 Series IV gas and promptly started restoring it hours after it rolled off the float!  That's when we got bit by the collecting bug!

Bought my 27 year old 79' 7060 PD in 2006. The farmer I bought it from, sweetened the deal by throwing in an AC1300 24'FC & AC 2000 5-16 plow. He had used it to pull a 12 planter, so it also came with space duals & full front weights. He upgraded to a newer caseih magnum & I was elated to get his well cared for 7060. Later I acquired an AC 2000 6-18 plow for it which made a beautiful combination.
Here's pictures of it. http://www.allischalmers.com/forum/plowing-in-february_topic135379.html" rel="nofollow - http://www.allischalmers.com/forum/plowing-in-february_topic135379.html

My first Allis Chalmers purchase was a D19 gas that I bought in about 1992. Still have it, and still getting work out of it. It evidently made an impression on me, because prior to it, I was sworn John Deere lover/Allis Chalmers hater. Only reason I bought it, was because I was newly married, had a small acreage in the country, and needed a loader tractor to keep my yard cleared of snow. The D 19 was about the only tractor I found that I could afford. Darrel

Grew up on A-C's.  The first tractor that I bought when I started to farm in 1975 was a D-21 Series II. It left the farm in 1980 and was replaced with another colour. In our construction business my first TLB was an A-C I-60. Still have an A-C 715B. First A-C tractor when I caught the collecting bug in 1991 was a D-19 that I needed on the farm. Now more then 20 A-C's around the farm. Had a good year in 2017. Added a one owner 220 fwd, 190 Diesel Beachmaster, and I-600 from the Nesbitt auction.

my first was a brand new 1980 AC 7010, I still have it, still a good tractor, it's never been opened up, have replaced tires, and the a/c system, and added more lights. I did replace the seal and o-ring on the PTO. then came the 180D a few years later, them came the 7080, and about all the support equipment in between.

First for me was a '53 WD45 that you guys have seen a million pictures of. It had it's issues when I brought it home, but it had a good tight tranny, strong engine, and (aftermarket) power steering. Has been a work in progress ever since. I love this thing!

The question is; What is the next one likely to be?

I bought the 54WD45 wit Fac P.S. in 1980 or 81? After I had it for a while, I pulled Dad's 51 CA out of the shed, where it had sat for 10 years. I still have both but the CA is "in waiting" pretty well tore down.

I grew up on WD45 diesels, so when I moved to MI and bought 18 acres I started looking for one. My wife's (girlfriend at the time) grandpa knew I liked Orange, so when a D17 gas came up on a local farm auction in 1987 he let me know about it.  I bought it for $1200 and drove it the four or five miles to his place in 7th gear...I wasn't aware the hand clutch had a high side LOL! I eventually drove it about 15 miles to my boss's place where he helped me put an engine kit in it. I then drove it 50 miles to my place. It served me well for the few years we lived there and I sold it when we moved to South Dakota. Many tractors under the bridge since then!

when we moved from suburbia where our 40' x 120' lot was the one of the biggest in Redondo Beach (!) to what seemed to us huge at the time - 5 acres - I casually mentioned that we would eventually need a tractor to tame it.
but we both got very involved with the local railway museum which ate up all available time.
then one day out of the blue Joyce found a tractor on Craig's List right by our house and showed me the picture.  at the time I had no idea who Allis Chalmers was, but there it was, a running CA with a box blade for $1000.
10 minutes later I owned it.
then since I owned one, I researched Allis Chalmers on the net, and discovered how lucky I had been to get one of the rare AC's in this area.
found and joined this forum (as CAdon, then) and the hook was set.  permanently.

Dad bought a new WD 45 in 55 it was his favorite tractor, I bought it in 1975 for a dollar, needed everything in the motor, passed it on to my son 2 years ago. My first tractor purchase was a series 4 D17 which I still have about 1980, have a nice 200 too along with a 1938 B. At 1 time I had a complete line of good snap coupler equipment. Most of it is gone. The balance is for sale.

The first tractor I learned to drive was a Allis B that my Dad bought used. Traded it off on a new CA in 1956 with a 2-row front mounted corn cultivator. I still have the original invoice, my brother and I were with my Dad when he bought the CA. I still have the CA and still use it about 100 hrs per year. When the tractor was about 10-12 years old Dad had the motor rebuilt with new pistons and rings and I rebuilt the transmission, rear end and all the wheel bearings about 10 years ago. My son and daughters learned to drive the CA as their first tractor. My 12 year old grandson was his first tractor he starting when he was 5-6 years old. He is waiting for the day it is his.

In 1987 just before graduating from high school I bought a gas D19 from the CaseIH dealer. It wasn't pretty but it was straight and the dealership had just overhauled the engine. It belonged to my 7th grade science teacher and he didn't need it anymore so I guess he traded it for a lawn mower or something.

I'd post a pic but photobucket has it kept hostage.

My first Allis purchase 1962 was a 1/64 th model C to hang on the Christmas tree.  It STILL hangs on the Christmas tree.
It wouldn't be till YEARS later that I bought my first REAL tractor.  I had the land and just wanted to start farming again, so I bought my beloved of all time, a WD45 gas at an auction.  Did a lot of work WITH it and ON it.  Still have it but it doesn't get used much now.  Too pretty....

I'm surprised JC!  My Mom was quite the seamstress also.  She made PJ's for us kids too, but I don't think she ever made any for Dad.  If she did, he never wore um...... I don't know if he ever wore any!!Wink

1943 C paid $50 showed it to my wife after she told me we couldn't afford a tractor. I told her $50 runs and drives. No electric start. No PTO or hydraulics. She looked at it and told me it needed tires. Went to town the next day and spent $450 on tires. I bought another one without an engine the next week. I put the PTO and hydraulics on it the electric start and foot brakes on it. I had it from 1985 till I gave it away last summer. I converted it to 12 volt back in 86. It's always started on the first pull on the crank.

Bought a 53 WD-45 and rear 80r mower in the mid 90s to mow my acreage. Several years later discovered I could mow twice as fast with a 48" zero turn mower. Now I use it to plow for the tractor club. We get requests to help people who need some plowing done. Have a 53-14 plow. Most places can be plowed in 3rd gear 8" deep. Have 3 45's now, Gas, Propane, and Diesel, 66 Al-crop, rear blade, and bunch of other implements needing repair.

MikeZ, thats a WD. LOL Wish I had not broken the front pedestal off of it.

CTucker, I remember mom working on the PJ's many late nights after chores cutting and sewing away on her Necchi sewing machine... mom tried to put us to bed early, 7-8pm but I was kinda like a hootie owl... and would wake up little later and run around for awhile... LOL

Ted, As I remember, she made a couple sets of PJ's but later it became easier just to buy them, and keep the overalls and jeans patched... Was hard on my clothes for some strange reason specially the knees and upper legs... LOL

First Allis on our farm was an All Crop 60 probably, late 50's, followed by a All Crop 90 a couple years later.  Then a WD which we used on a farm we had from 76 to 84.  When I moved back to the country in 2004 went looking for a tractor and got a 170, which I still have, followed by a 5015, and now a D15.
My great uncle was a Rumely and then Allis dealer in Ontario, and Dad had worked with his business and always liked the AC equipment, so just continues in our family.

Trade dad out of HD 5 in 78 when I started farming on my own. Uncle bought it new planted 600 acres plus and summer fallowed the same with it and JD A. At 10 years old he had the dealer rebuild it. Rented land sold a year or 2 latter and he stop farming and ran a few cows. Uncle sold HD 5 to my dad about 1970. Its still here needs tracks real bad but still get a little work out of it. Did all my planting with it until the last 3 or 4 years.

First AC I payed real money for was a 1978 MH 2 Gleaner in the early 90's.

First crawler I drove was dads K, I was about 12 or 13. Had to be tall enough to push the brake and still pull the steering clutch.

Dad's first was a WD45 bought new the fall of 1953. I still have it. I bought my first, a 200 at a farm sale in 1975. Had 300 hours on it. Factory cab and NO air conditioning. Traded it for a 7030 in 1979 with air.

Bought my first Allis, a '41 B, in the early 80"s, a few years after we moved to Maine. I bought it with a stuck engine ("it ran when we backed it into the line") from an AC dealer in Auburn, Maine. I rented a trailer from the local Agway manager for $20 and took off with my 72 Chevy 1/2 ton, with the Irish setter riding shotgun, to fetch her. I had bought some chains and hooks to "tie her down", (who ever heard of chain binders).

Loaded, set the brakes and put her in gear. When I got home, the engine was free from the rocking back and forth. Put in some gas, towed it and was running in a half hour. After buying about 16 more tractors, this '41 B is next in line for restoration. Bob@allisdowneast

Our farm has been AC since the late 30s.  I grew up on a 7045 pedal tractor, learned to drive on the 1947 C but other than toys my first real AC piece was the Roto Baler my cousin and I bought when I was 15.  That was the proverbial snowball, since we had the baler we should have the bale loader, the pto rake, a few all crops, corn pickers, choppers, drills, planters, cultivators, more tractors, etc etc etc.

My first tractor I bought was the 1954 WD45 I grew up on. My father owned it from 1990-1999 and he got it from an estate of the original owner and it was to replace a WD we had that crapped out. I raked a lot of hay with this tractor. I found it and bought it back in 2012. Here is a picture of it in 1999, right before we sold it. It was very clean and straight when it left and by time I got it back, it was pretty rusty from sitting out all the years. The WD was nicer and sat in the back of the barn until 2004 when it was sold as a project tractor.
