Decided to rebuild all my headlights on my tractors. Now that the reflectors, gasket, and other parts are available, it makes a nice light when finished.

Got 16 done. I think I am almost half done with the early tractors before 1960. I will see how this goes before I start on the later ones.

How is your project going?

Lon , how about a couple pictures and parts list of what you used for the pre 1960s ?

Well, the 190 XT is finished up. I received my rebuilt hydraulic pump back from Sandy lake. Bill did an awesome job as I finally have 1 finger steering at all engine speeds. It’s been needed since I bought it 1 1/2 years ago. Merry Christmas to me|
Still have to put dads 6060 clutch in fresh back from Rick.
Then the 390 AC haybine with Tiger teeth install. Go over the bailer to get ready for hay season.. the Oliver planter needs some TLC. Life as a farmer full time or part time never ends. And I love it|

Drained 2.5 gallons of antifreeze out of the oil pan of my new project 7040 Powershift, threw two batteries on her, cranked, got pickup on it to jump start, crank more, not much smoke, investigate dangling wires, hook lift pump back up (has the updated dual spin-on filter lift pump kit) crank and she fires up!

Drove it off the truck! Powershift seems crisp! :)

Now I need to find out where this antifreeze leak is coming from... :)

I am also figuring out why my 2-155 White project will not shift into two gears. I am afraid its a rusted shift collar internally, but I may get lucky and find its just in the linkage. I feel bad about that one, turns out the jockey that sold it powerwashed it and didnt realize it had a cracked manifold, and got water down the engine. Had I known this I would have tried to make it run the day I bought it, but no, harvest was coming and the auction yard I bought it at is very easy to deal with, so it sat till early december. She definitely had some rust in the bores... took starter and muffler off, poured oil down exhaust, barred it over back and forth till I could roll it over, rolled it over 10 times, re-installed starter, and cranked a few times, and she fired up. hopefully the rings are OK...

Tuesday I am going after my 6000 series 8 row White planter. Its set on 36 inch rows, and I have not convinced myself that here in dry western KS I need to be on 30s, so who knows, it may stay as-is, or it get scooted in to 8R30.

You know you are a junk hoarder when you buy the parts before you buy the tractor, I had the front weights I needed for the White 2-155, top link and quick hitch I needed for the 7040, and many bearings and other things I needed for the 6108 White Planter all bought at auction in years past.

we wont even go into the pickup truck projects I have lined up as well... :/

If I get 1 tractor and 1 pickup going and plant 36 inch row corn next year I will be ahead of schedule..... ;)

it's amazing to see how much debris a pack rat can accumulate on 5 acres over 20 years.
so this winter is 75% reorganizing "stuff" and 25% trying to get delayed & half finished projects done - one-at-a-time!
a new pole barn 2nd shop for woodworking will help considerably.
so does being newly retired.

Taking my B to a media blasting outfit in mid January that will also apply an epoxy primer used on the inside of steel water towers/tanks. Have a local body shop all set to paint the drive train afterwards. Drain, flush and refill the transmission and differential. New rims and tires all around and the sheet metal reinstalled. By late spring I hope to have my 38 rolling and dressed for the dance.

Right now I have an 8010 in the shop that we got last spring. It’s got a new floor mat, cab kit, door seals, radio and speakers, and waiting on a head liner. It had a stiff range shifter and a new cable fixed that. Also ran the GPS receiver cable up the left cab post and out behind the lights so that it’s not exposed to tree limbs and blowing in the wind.

It had a dash throttle so I bought a console throttle from a salvage yard and I discovered some brackets in the cab where the cable and lower bell crank mount we’re missing so I fabbed them up and welded them on.
I have some pics I’ll post later.

I also noticed that our 85 8070 has the seat mounted 3” lower than the 8050 and this 8010 which works a lot better with an air ride seat. so I had 3/16 metal bent like the 8070. I got it and a grammar air ride seat installed yesterday.

It’s been a lot of work but it should be nice planting this spring.

8050 radiator was leaking this summer mowing hay so it’s coming in next. It will probably get recored. It is getting a new radio and head liner while I have it in the shop. Still had the original radio and it doesn’t Work very well any more. It has an air ride seat now but it’s getting lowered like the 8010.

There’s a few other od jobs but that should keep me busy for a while.

I am hoping to go 100% through my 385 planter this winter. I haven't used it for the last two seasons, and it's been sitting outside. It'll need some attention. If the cards really fall in my favor, I'll get my 7580 going also, to put in front of it. Darrel

I have to hand it to you Victory, having your jobs on the spread sheet is a good management tool. I wish I had the gumption, or whatever it takes to do that. Seems like when I go to run a seasonal piece of equipment, that's when I remember what I was supposed to fix on it during the off season. Darrel

I keep a piece of paper with a list that I can add to as I remember even if it is another repair on the same piece and when I get one done I cross it off so it feels like I accomplished something but then I add two more.

I do that too then usually lose the paper and forget most everything I wrote down then remember suddenly next season.

I've got a chalk board on the wall in the shop.  Problem is some of the things listed on it have been there for 10 or more years.  Maybe I should just erase it and start fresh....

My first objective is to stay warm!!  Everything after that is gravy......
I HAVE to get carb kits for the WD45, one for a D-17 and the CA.
So it'll be boiling them (Dick L's recipe), cleaning, clearing and then new parts.
Other than that, I can't get much done,,,,,,I don't have a heated shop/garage as yet.

Fix major leak coming from hydro area on L2 and install new raddle chains, reroute electrical cables to cab and better seal up cab from mice.

On the corn head, rebuild stripper plates and reverse snapping roll flutes, new drive chains, gathering chains and sprockets.

Get my 1616H mower running that hasn't run in over a year. Think key switch of something, no spark.

Put led lights on 7050.

Not sure on order of things and am pretty sure not all will get done.

Figured I would work on something a little newer rather than the Model T's this winter so I'm building an old school hotrod like they would have in the 50's from the ground up with scavenged parts. Model A frame and suspension dropped 4" with a 1930 Model A coupe body. Rearend, steering sector and tranny from a 1947 F1 pickup. Front end from a 1939 donor. Hydraulic brakes. 1949 Mercury flathead V8. Some assembly required.

Put as much sand on the groung as mother nature will let me as I'm a dredge operator 6 days a week, and I help at the farm the other 7.  My neighbor from 40 years ago has a early 190 gasser, with a junk cab. ( I remember the tractor as a teenager) He want's me to add a second remote and install a loader. The cab isn't going back on.  Dad has completely rebuilt 4 rows on the 630 corn head for the L3, the snap roller bearings went out on the other 2 rows this past fall. Lots of little stuff, 4 rears on the 8070, it all takes time. Like everybody else, seems like there is always something I should be doing. My son has his FFA mechanics project too.

Hey Lonn, get some cats and leave the cab door open, many a morning we go the shed and a cat is sitting on the seat.  CAT FOOD IS CHEAP.

Repair a hydraulic leak on the 7045.
I'm getting close to having the XT with an L combine engine operational, waiting for a few parts that are on order and I need to drop the steering cylinder down an inch.
Make some repairs on the Hesston discbine and New Idea hay rake.

Yes I have plenty of cats but usually I keep the shed locked up tight and they are kinda lazy sometimes due to wife and kids keeping them well fed. Though we haven’t had a mouse in the house in probably over a decade. They gotta run the gauntlet to get to the house.😼

My project is to work on my 1961 D-10 S-II this winter to replace some seals that will hopefully stop some of the leaks.  Going after the rear and front crank seals, clutch was a bit jumpy.  Upon splitting the tractor, I didn't know you could put that much grease in the bell housing.  Purchased the tractor this past summer and started tackling all the different items that need attention after 56 years.

Nothing was rusty.  Must have been 3 pounds of grease.

I've got an Allis WD out back that needs to come in and have the new engine installed but first have to replace the seal that keeps the hydraulic fluid from leaking into the bellhousing.  Just have to find time and space to get it in shop.

Currently doing customer's '23 Fiat 703.  The headless engine has been froze at some time in the past and the outer water jacket has many cracks.  Ive taken the  cylinder block off and it's at the repair shop for extensive welding.  I've re-fitted the crank bearings to proper clearance and straightened #3 rod.  Just have to make some gaskets and wait for the block to be done.  More customer jobs waiting.
I would like to find time to get some work done on my '58 Morgan +4, but customer work pays the bills!!LOL

Well, I wanted to overhaul another 45 engine this winter. But when I tore it apart the crank is bad, (front main already .040 under and is in need of grind). The rest of the journals were a Hodge-podge.  I have a D-17 crank that is .010-.010 ready to go but no block to put it in.

Today I got my snap-couple 2 row planter in the shop to get it ready to plant sweet corn next spring. I'll be happy if I get my sweet corn planted with this thing.

I've been working on this building. I fixed the leaky roof back in August ( more like rebuilt it ). I'm currently in the process of putting in double doors. This is a good building with a concrete floor, lights, and insulated. I plan to put in a wood stove and use it to work on the tractors and try to get them ready for the GOTO in April.
