after posting about the HD7 parts I checked out Zimmermans inventory and found this http://www.machinerytrader.com/listings/construction-equipment/for-sale/22259159/1973-allis-chalmers-7gb?dlr=1&pcid=331956&if=1" rel="nofollow - http://www.machinerytrader.com/listings/construction-equipment/for-sale/22259159/1973-allis-chalmers-7gb?dlr=1&pcid=331956&if=1 7G series B That thing is damn nice. the sprockets and uc look almost new to me and the paint helps lol . what do you think at 15K?

Both nice looking machines.
I haven't seen that much ear corn in bins in years!

those folks are some kind of Mennonite I think. They use crawlers and modern tractors with steel wheels to farm with. Very good people to do business with.

The entire region around Zimmerman is Mennonite, his chief mechanic is as well, cannot drive to down machines but can be hauled!
I would dearly love a G-B, 2800 series engine, much the same drive train but not the same pumps, no power brakes to tear up and all pedal steer no hand clutches. But I retired and won't be happening anytime soon or later.

Did find out the seal rings for the tranny shafts(iron like piston rings) are still available and reasonable for now, the largest O-ring for the shift drums is available but not the flat ring for the two drum sections. The clutch discs are available but take five MINIMUM days for shipping from the Congo(shown as DC or the order). a full set of 36 is over a grand PLUS shipping and customs fees.
The shift shaft seals that have been obsolete FOREVER I am going to try as far as hydraulic seals from my supplier. As soon as the replacement trans pump gets in I will have those part numbers.

that is what is frustrating. that machine would be amazing until you needed to work on the transmission, but on the other hand, a HD6 trackloader wouldn't be nearly as nimble to run but easily repaired with geardrive trans

My dad bought a 7gb just like that one in 1978 .It was a 73 model .It was a trade in and the fiat dealer had it for 13 grand. Dad traded a hd6 in on it and 10 grand cash. It was all painted up new decals and new seat but the machine gave lots of problems with the 6cy engine . dad traded it to a guy for a regular 7g and payoff in 1980.

That thing was like driving a caddie the few times I loaded with it but being used to the 6g I knocked a few boards off the dump truck and ran over a few 5 gallon buckets trying to get my hands and feet to work together and reaching for leavers that wasent there
