Finally got the old broken steering wheel off the column of the 39 B.   Inside the top of the shaft housing was a single round rubber insert that was melted quite a bit by the transferred heat of my torch.  Rusted nut, rusted wheel center... it was a multi day project soaking and tapping and made me work HARD to separate.  The torch finally won.    The only part inside the shaft support tube was the rubber spacer doughnut around the shaft... is there supposed to be more at the top of the tube on a 39?   Any type of bearing or  hard bushing assembly?     Appreciate the help.

Took one apart the other day, there was a steel bushing on the shaft, then rubber then the outer housing.

Anything will work, wood soaked in oil. I made one out of nylon.
