Ok, I got part of the pulley disassembled. Now I cant seem to get the inner half of the pulley off. This is the pulley that adjusts to change the fan speed on a 74 Gleaner F. I've been told its pressed on, told its just stuck, and told that its on a tapered shaft. I do know it has a keyway on it.   I used a come along and put hard tension on it as even as I could and then heated it red hot. Then used an oak 2x4 to hit the center shaft. Ive only got it to move maybe 1/4" to 1/2". I'm trying to be gentle getting it off so i don't have to buy another pulley.   What am i doing wrong?   I think I'm going to run to rural king tonight and get a three jaw puller. How do i go about getting it back on after the bearing is repaired?
Thanks
Adam

That is loctited to shaft. Cut bearing off on other side, remove shaft and take it to a press. Before going back to gather, cut a new keyway under big part of pulley. No need for lactate with keyway in right place.
This was a engineer screw up that they would not change. Every new combine we sold, we pulled the pulley and cut a new keyway where it should be. Never had a problem braking a pulley after that.    MACK

OK Mack, I think I'm still a little lost here. Where exactly are you cutting a new keyway? I had considered taking the whole shaft out and having it pressed off at a machine shop. So if I do that where exactly do I need to have them cut a keyway at?
Thanks
Adam

Cut keyway just before shaft gets bigger.   MACK
