          | If I remember right, you remove timing window on side of pump, rotate engine until pump mark lines with straight edge of snap ring. Then mark on flywheel should line with hole in side of torque housing. If this is wrong, some one correct me.        MACK |

          | Normally on a CAV you'd just line the mark on the flange with the mark on the front cover. There are some that would line letter "C" up with the flat edge of the snap ring like Mack said. My question is, why are you concerned with the timing? Odds are there's something wrong here right?

          | I'd check the starter before I messed with the inj pump.

          | so it cranks over hard, meaning it cranks slow? Sounds like it's fighting itself? Does it run good once started? Re-start ok? or ??

          | You need the BIGGEST battery with the highest CCA to start one of those engines in cold weather. They were borderline on needing two batteries.  This also means good big battery cables and clean connections. |

          | It cranks slow and hard like it's fighting itself it smokes bad when cranking then I give it a shot of ether then it will start ok all day long and once running it runs really well |
