I am in the market for a loader tractor and I came across a 1974 200 with 4400 hours that had a complete engine overhaul 150 hours ago.  Good tin, tires 50%,  nice 519 loader, original paint, no known problems.  He has been offered $4950 so I will need to at least beat that price.  Could you help me out?  Thanks.

$4955?  Sorry.

Seriously, it honestly comes down to how bad you want it.  The tractor could be worth more than that, or not, it's very hard to say without a detailed inspection.  It's like anything else, worth what someone will pay.  To me, that's getting toward the top of the price range, but maybe not, and I don't know how bad you want it!

A good 200 can easily bring $6000 to $8500. A loader can add value or take away value depending on how the tractor was used or abused. Lots of people think there loader tractor is a bulldozer or skid loader. Lots of clutching, shifting and braking. 1000 hours on a loaders tractor can be like 5000 hours on a field unit.

IMO an engine overhaul at 4400 hours suggests to me that previous owner was lacking in maintenance, check the loader pins for wear, ask the owner questions about the type of engine oil, gear and hydraulic oil he uses.

If you tell me where it's at I'll go have a look at it for you.....but unless it's a POS, it would be on my trailer for 5k's. You said he was offered $4955, we don't know the dollar amount it would actually take to bring it home, seller needs to put a price on it or he is not really interested in selling it, in my opinion. As stated above, it's hard to put a price on something without seeing it. Fyi, we have 2 XT's with 500 loaders, had them for years, good outfits.
Good Luck.

One sold here at auction in the spring with an off brand loader for $8500.  Look it over good.  The price is not too bad.
