I have a 1965 D-15 series 2 (Gas) that I would like to put some front stack weights so that I can use a larger rotary mower. I currently have a 5ft rhino brand and do not need weights. However, I would like to purchase a larger mower. I have borrowed my neighbors 6ft mower but it often lifts up my front end.
Did Allis make brackets and weights for my D-15? What is the most affordable way to accomplish this task.

I restored my D-15 four years ago and made the mistake of using it on the farm. I wish I had keep it in mint restored condition. However, the D-15 is a nice work tractor. Rare machine in South Georgia.

The D15 and D17 share the same frame width and front implement mounting points, so D17 stack weights fit right on a D15.  That's the easy part.  Now you get to find and pay for the weights and bracket...

You can also get about 50lbs a tire in the front (assuming at least 6:00-16 tires) but filling them with fluid - I put -20 windsheild washer fluid in the front tires of my D17.  Mike

If your not concerned about originality, you could buy some suitcase weights and make a frame on the front to hang them on. That would be way cheaper.

Does anybody have a picture of an orginal frame that the weights hang on? I would like to pattern my repo to the orginal if I have one machined. Any picture of the orginal weights?

Here's the weights (first in the list) from Brian Ahart's weight page:

Also look on his image archive for pics of tractors with the weight bracket:

Wouldn't the front wheel weights for a WD/WD45 etc.  also fit on a D15's front rims?  I think those weigh close to 80 lbs. or more and would be easy to put on and not take up any extra room.   sometimes they are easier to come by then the stack weights and may/may not be expensive in your area.
