I pulled a 7 bottom pull type for a few years with D21 with duals but had it weighted to the hilt, power was ok but hard to get it to the ground.

I have a plow like that. I need the extra offset front plate to use it with my 220 with duals because the dual makes contact with the front plow wheel on a right turn. Next year I'll hook it to my 220 fwd with single rears. Model 3000 plow

So what about it? I don't see a D21. Don't see the D21 pulling that plow. Does it? Wouldn't for me!

My D-21 would NOT pull that plow around here. Have not tried with my 220 2wd with 20.8 x 38 radial duals weighing 17,300 lbs. I think traction would still be a problem. Best chance for me would be with my 220 fwd with 24.5's but I don't plan on adding extra weights on the rear.

Were semi-mount plows a good idea? I have my doubts.

I think when you got that big they were good if on land hitch, would not want an in furrow one that size.

Traction Booster makes it work.

Better be easy plowing ground for 7 bottoms. 5 here is loaded hard. Our d21 will pull 6 but it tends to carry the front wheels. We have a starter weight and 4 slabs out front. The rear has big inside and 2 doughnut weights out side

Norm stated in his book that the in furrow plows pulled easier than the on land hitch style. Im on the same page as calebNok, must be easy ground we pull 6-16 with 7080, 6-16 on land with 7580 and its enough.

Well, yes, they are a good idea. I'm not sure what your doubts stem from....But they plow just fine, and one great benefit, if you start getting stuck or hung up some how, you can lift the back end out of the ground with the tailwheel. In other words, can lift the plow more completely out of the ground when you begin to get stuck. Then when the plows get big....like 5+ bottoms, you're not carrying all that weight so far back.
